Want to 5 pounds fast? Here's what a Yahoo article recommends.
Hit The Gym
Anyone looking to lose weight should work out at least four days per week for at least an hour, recommends Will Torres, fitness expert and founder of willspace in New York City. "The first 30 minutes should focus on full body lifting exercises, and the second 30 should be fast paced, high intensity strength training or fast cardio."
Your posture impacts the appearance of extra weight on your body, so in order to appear taller, slimmer, and to improve your physique, Lashaun Dale, Senior National Group Fitness Creative Manager at Equinox, recommends taking yoga to achieve your weightloss goals.
Sometimes you just have to indulge in your favorite foods. Can't rise and shine without that yummy bagel on Saturday morning? No problem, just reduce your portion size and eat half. When it comes to lunch, try splitting it in half. "Eat half of it at 12 and the other half at 3," says Torres. "It will make it easier for your body to digest the food and will keep your metabolism active."
One of the most important things is keeping count of your calories, and unfortunately, alcoholic beverages are full of empty ones. When trying to lose weight, it's best to completely cut out those unhealthy drinks, advises Torres.
Take Your Time
When you're in a hurry, you may consume more calories than your body really needs. Try to slow down while you eat and really enjoy your food! "Chew 20 times before you swallow," Torres says. "The more broken down the food is before it reaches the stomach, the easier it is for the stomach to finish breaking it down and the more nutrients you get."
It's important to drink at least a gallon of water each day-being hydrated will boost your metabolism. When your body is dehydrated, it doesn't process food and nutrients properly, explains Koya Webb, health expert and author of Koya's Kuisine: "Foods You Love That Love You Back!"
Once you start drinking all that water, it's also a good idea to sweat out the other impurities in your body. Webb suggests spending some quality time in the sauna to rid your bod of salt and toxins. "Saunas help you relax and lower stress helps you lose weight as well."
Say No to Salt
We all get that occasional craving for a salty treat, but when you're trying to lose five pounds, it's better to swap out salt for spices like cayenne, ginger, or cinnamon. They can actually help speed up your metabolism and burn fat faster, while salt causes you to hold on to water weight, explains Webb.
Sounds reasonable and easy to do right? Well, good luck to me then. Seems like its getting difficult to lose pounds now that I am nearing my big 3-0. Five years ago, I'd do the after-6 diet and I'd lose the excess pounds right away. Now, I do everything from Yoga to Zumba, from juicing to fasting - nothing has changed. I am still 10 pounds over my desired weight.
