Why, Wisdom!

Monday, March 12, 2012

I've been having headaches for the past couple of weeks and I know what's causing it. My impacted lower wisdom teeth.

I asked my friend who just had his extracted and this is how our conversation went.

Me: From a scale of 1-10, how painful was it?
Friend: Uhmm.10.
Me: Whaaaaat!??
Friend: I kid, I kid, it's only 9.5
Me: Oh. Great.

This right here on the left of your screen is my lower left wisdom tooth, scaheduled for extraction on March 16. I am freaking out with the thought because I know it is going to be agonizing and bloody. Imagine having your gums sliced, your tooth drilled and broken into 4 pieces and taken out? All that while you are awake, trying to keep your mouth wide open and stopping yourself from swallowing all the blood gushing out. Not a pleasant thought right? Sorry. Why did you fail me tooth? I guess it just came out like that because my jaw did not have enough space for my teeth. Which is weird really - why do we have wisdom teeth in the first place?

Then! As if that's not enough, one month later, you have to do it all over again for this baby right here on the right. The dentist said it would be a much easier procedure compared to the first one since it is already partially out and it is not too deep down to get. I was tempted to just leave them there and pretend they don't exist however, the persistent headache and the fact that my teeth are crowding in the front got the best of me. The procedure has to be done and I have to power through the pain of it all.

The only plus side is the side effect. For about 3 days, I'd be on a soft diet - that should at least get me to lose 5lbs right??? Right??? I guess the answer for that one would be YES! If only I'd eat soup and mashed fruits exclusively, but if I stuff myself icecream then that's a whole different story. Oh well, if having my wisdom tooth extracted won't help me lose weight, then there's always the option of taking 7-dfbx. The great thing about this pill is that it doesn't have any nasty side effects, so it says. I am going to be a bridesmaid for the first time in June for one of my bestest friends, I should look great so I am keeping my options open in losing weight.
