Credit Card Thieves All Around

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I am in a rush right now because my holiday shopping is not yet done! The year is about to end and here I am, swiping away like there's no tomorrow.

Actually, I only need a few key items : a gift for our helpful nanny for her 18th birthday, a bachelorette gift (any ideas aside from underwear???) and something blue for our annual family portrait.

I just hope the mall isn't filled up people! Aside from the chaos, there's still that fear of thieves lurking about.

Speaking of thieves and credit cards; did you know the new modus of cc thieves right now is so simple, it is scary. They have this device that looks like a simple device maybe an ipad or laptop that when it gets near your wallet or credit cards it can swipe the information from your card because of the presence of the RFID in the credit card. With this, they can easily make a copy and charge using your information! Scary, isn't it?

Great news though, there's a wallet or a credit card holder which is immune to the rfid credit card stealing monster. With this, we are assured that we can walk along the malls safe and secured.

This is actually a great gift idea to those who hasn't finished with their Holiday shopping yet.

Outfits.

I have a weakness for anything that is glittery. That is why eversince Forever21 opened up here in my City it has been my #1 choice for Holiday outfits. Their prices are acceptable even to the thrifty Cebuano market.

So for the new year - I want my outfits to be from Forever 21. I am thinking animal prints. Sequins. High heels. Accessories.

I just hope my credit card limit won't fail on me.

Getting Covered

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

Eeeeeep. Is there no end to expenses these days? The Holidays is supposed to be a time for rest and recreation - how come I don't feel any of that? Anyway, I just came from my dentist for my semi-annual tooth cleaning and some fillings when she informed me that I need to have my other 2 wisdom teeth removed. 3 years ago, both my upper wisdom teeth was extracted because like most people, it was impacted and it caused pain and some ringing in my ears. The procedure took hours and after it, I had less wisdom and even lesser money in the bank. (boy these things don't come in cheap!) I still don't get why we have wisdom teeth you know. Most of the people I know had theirs extracted which cost them money. We're sad, dentists are happy. Life.

Right now, our company does not have any dental plan for its employees but since my father is the boss he allows us to liquidate the amount. I am planning to have my tooth extracted, maybe on the last week of January when all the parties and festivities have died down. I can't schedule it now even though it is quite bothersome already because there are a lot of errands and such; extraction would mean I can do anything strenuous for 2-3 days which isn't acceptable as of now.

Thinking about the cost of the procedure made me realize how important it is to get some type of health plan, not just for me but also for Hubby and the kids. These days when the prices for medical and dental needs are rising it is vital for parents like me to plan ahead. We can never tell what happens to the future but we can plan for it. That's why there's insurance - life, medical, educational, fire and such - to help us get through life's uncertainties. My friends, when we get together, they would joke around at how mature I've become, always talking about business or investments, I always feel flattered because even though I still don't know what I'm doing - there's one thing I am certain - and that is getting covered.

It's That Time Again - Resolutions

Christmas is over and now it is time for my annual resolutions list. Last year, I fulfilled 3 of my 5 resolutions. I drank more water, I took in vitamins and decided to lessen my carb intake plus I wore sunscreen and moisturized!!! I haven't - however - saved and took it easy. Instead, I found myself penniless and more busy.

Who knew being a single parent of 2 boys was hard work??? Who knew??? (I'm being sarcastic here in case you're not getting it)

So this year - here are my 12 resolutions for 2012.

  1. Eat more greens!
  2. Exercise, may it be thru Zumba or just sit ups at home, basta, I need to firm up my arms and stomach.
  3. Drink 2 cups of coffee a day (instead of 4)
  4. No more junk food and nutella. =(
  5. Be diligent in looking for a job in Norway.
  6. Save!!! As in around 2,500 per pay day. Seriously. No more online shopping.
  7. Spend less time in Facebook and more time in the real world.
  8. Finally, enroll in a Norwegian language course for beginners.
  9. Nag less but be firm with the kids.
  10. Be a patient, defensive driver to avoid road rage.
  11. Learn how to change a tire.
  12. Wear my glasses!!! (i have prescription lenses but I always forget where i put it)

FFI

Anyone in the holiday spirit? I'm getting there. So...here we go!

1. As I neared the grocery counter, I realized I forgot to get the eggs. Ack.

2. My new phone's manual is what I'm reading right now. It's an iphone. Yahoo.

3. I didn't start out this way, I used to be relaxed; chill - now I have become my mom, stressed and a nagger.

4. It is better to tell the truth. (well, that's what they say, it's better, but it doesn't mean it's easier)

5. The best way to enjoy the Holidays is to spend it with the people you love.

6. This is the reason I am stressed - too much work, so little time!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to continue wrapping gifts, tomorrow my plans include bringing my son to school (if the storm clears up) and Sunday, I want to enjoy the day because Hubby's coming home!

Games For All.

Thursday, December 15, 2011

My grandma whose 79 has something in common with her youngerst great-grandson whose 2.

They both love playing with the ipad.

Both of them are into games which has something to do with letters and numbers. I guess, there's no denying it - they are related. It doesn't hurt that they look somewhat the same as well.

Let me tell you something about my grandmother, eversince my grandfather got a nursing aide and their household has an additional househelp - my grandma - who has been in charge most of her life has been feeling a bit of left out. I think she is feeling useless since she used to do all the cooking, gardening and the caring for my sickly grandfather. Because of the changes in their lifestyle, she has been cranky and irritable causing my single aunt (who they live with) a great deal of stress. We've had family discussions over this and since my grandma clearly enjoys her games, this would be a good distraction for her which does not require for her too much strain. Her mind would be busy so she won't cause trouble at home. Cross-stitching and knitting was a choice of activity but it causes strain in her hands so we cancelled that thought. Another option is letting her go to bingo socials but she refuses to go out of the house much so maybe online bingo games are the answer. It got me thinking, are there apps out there for games of chance? If not, she can always go online with her ipad and it try out and maybe she can get to socialize with the other players too? With such a distraction - she won't feel bored anymore ergo - she won't be cranky. The beauty of online games is that it is open for everyone, young, old, girl, boy or whoever. How fun is that!

LBD at F21

I am going gaga over Forever21. Mainly because they offer a wide variety of fashinably affordable clothes. While others feel it is TOO mass produced - I say it is fine! As long you know how to mix and match your outfits, accessorize and make it your own then it is fine. You will only look like everyone else if you don't use your imagination!=P

I still have a few people on my Christmas list so I've decided that the best place to shop for them is Forever21.

Their men's line ranges between $5 to about $25 which is not bad considering it is already of good quality and design. For the women's blouses they have $15 to $30. Actually, if you really work hard enough to look for bargain deals, you can. I bought a little black dress there for only $12! That's a steal if you ask me.

To welcome 2012 right, here are my top 12 material wishes. For those reading who may be stumped on what to give me then this is your lucky day. Take out those VISA and MASTERCARD and start shopping.

In no particular order. My top 12 2012 must haves:

  1. Animal print bag. One that is huge and would have a lot of room for my stuff.
  2. MAC lipstick in a pink shade.
  3. Forever21 boyfriend jacket.
  4. Chariol bangle.
  5. Large gold rimmed aviator shades.
  6. One (or 2) michael kors watches
  7. Faceshop's Radiance pressed powder.
  8. An iTouch case
  9. One box of Nutella
  10. ALDO wedges
  11. Diet Pills and
  12. Tory Burch flats

I'd wanted to included a bag in the mix but I promised myself no more designer bags until we get a place of our own. That may happen next year or in 2013 but believe me when I say it is going to be sooner than you think, maybe we'll settle here but chances are it is going to be abroad (think Schengen VISA) and I can't wait.

Smart Choice

This afternoon was supposed to be a productive one. However, instead of going out to brave the "sale sale sale season" I decided that sleeping was the cheaper option. I had to finalize the people in my list with their corresponding gift idea so that I don't have to spend countless hours browsing the stores searching for the perfect gift.

I have mentaly ticked off most of the people except the men in the family. So if you're like me and is still thinking about what to give the man of the house this Holiday season then read on? I have finally got the perfect gift idea. A brand new smart phone htc will do the trick. He can make calls, surf the internet and send emails with just a swipe here and a tap there. Who would go wrong, right? Everyone needs a phone and who better needs it more than the father of the house.

Dirty Laundry

Netizens have been buzzing over the video of Mo Twister who have admitted to the abortion of his love child with Rhian Ramos.

Last weeks controversial interview with KC - which made people speculate about Piolo's sexuality - has taken a back seat over this one. Piolo can now take a breather and pray to God people will forget.

Back to DJ Mo Twister and Rhian's issue...

May I just say - I really don't get the need for Mo to broadcast this thing to the whole world. I know he's traumatized, hurt and angry but I don't see how telling everyone would help his cause. Seeing a therapist and moving away is the wisest decision he's done so far. Leaking the video? Not so much. While he may say he didn't do it - I don't believe him. I am a fan of Mo and his beliefs (thoroughly against cheating and lying) but I do know how he can be very pro revenge. If he really truly did love Rhian and his baby...he would not have aired their dirty laundy in public. He should have stopped the abortion in the first place. He is supposed to be older but I guess he's none the wiser.

Too bad. They have just sensationalized murder. =(
