Shopping For Guys

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Guys are the hardest to shop for when you talk about Christmas gifts. I mean, there are just a handful of stuff you can get them. All the other things are either too expensive or wayyyyy too expensive.

Girls are easy. Mothers - easier! They tell you exactly what they want. Mom said she'd be happy with a bosch dishwasher. Yeah right mom, that's way out of budget. =) LOL

Anyway, back to my dilema, let's take my dad for example, I have given him a polo shirt, a belt, wallet and more recently, a watch organizer. I cannot afford what he really likes: designer watches, rayban shades and a BMW. TOINK. This year, me and my siblings might buy him the rayban aviator large in gold rim. However, he may not really use it because he has to wear prescription lenses.

So, any guys out there, suggestions!??? comments? reactions!?

Shoes is an option.
Even a necktie.
If he is techie, a cool headset?
Speakers?

I guess you should really know who you are giving to be able to give him a gift he will appreciate.

When The Dead Walks

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Zombie themed movies have been invading the small screen and big screen for years. Because of this, I have already thought of my plans in the unlikely event of this catastrophe.

But before that! Here are the things you need would likely need in the event of a zombie apocalypse (or a natural disaster....actually, these are important so better take note).

  • Water. The more water, the better.
  • Food. Stock up on non-perishable items like Beef jerky, canned tuna, canned fruits and veggies, biscuits, cereal, vitamins, energy drink, nuts and don’t forget the can opener!)
  • Medications. First Aid Kit.
  • Tools and Supplies. Knife. Flashlight, matches, Battery powered radio. Battery.
  • Toiletries you might need (soap, toilet paper, toothpaste and tampons).
  • Clothing and Bedding. A change of clothes for each family member, some blankets and don’t forget the Sierra Designs Sleeping Bags.
  • Important documents.

So anyway, after that's out of the way, here are my top 3 choices for a hideout (just for laughs but we never really know, right?)

#1 - Home. Just hold the fort down until the chaos dies down. Hopefully by this time you have received an emergency broadcast telling you that its safe to go out or what.

#2 - Yacht or a boat. I don't think zombies would drown but I don't think they can swim either. Taking a boat would be a safer way to go than a car? Just make sure you know how to navigate that thing, you have guns and ammo with you and enough gas to take you as far away from Zombie land as possible.

#3 - Prison. Or anywhere with thick, tall walls. Food. Restroom. Think Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse.

Pump Up Kicks

Before I knew what the song meant, I loved it. I usually listen to it when I'm driving. For some weird reason, it brings me to my happy place. At least, while in the road, I am relaxed even with all the pyscho jeepney drivers, stupid pedestrians, daredevil motorcycle drivers and ignorant fellow drivers.

Then I listened to the lyrics and found out it's an anti-bullying song. Makes me feel really blessed to have survived school life without being burned by bullies.

It is just sad that some kids become bullies to cope with what's happening usually in his/her family life (i.e parents are separated or kid is being abused). I even heard from a fellow parent that her child is being bullied by a classmate! Ack. They are 5 year olds..and girls!!! I asked my kid about it and he seemed clueless. I guess this is an isolated incident with the girls in his class. However, this doesn't stop me from being a nosy mom - from here on out I'd see to it that I know what happens in my boys' class and it starts by being friends with the parents. =D

Toxic Friday

Friday, November 4, 2011

Since 8AM today, I've been like the energizer bunny doing all sorts of errands and work stuff. From finalizing the details of our company christmas party and corporate meeting to grocery shopping and even finding the time to go to my real estate broker to FINALLY sign the Deed of Absolute Sale of the lot we fully paid last February! And take note, all that was accomplished in the morning.

This afternoon, I have to place some orders, make a ton of phone calls, answer emails and even check the conference call charges from Cebu to Singapore and Cebu to Norway.

Talk about toxic friday!

Oh well. Good thing I have the long weekend to relax and regain my composure. How's your Friday treating you so far?

Sad.

Sometimes I get caught up with my own problems.

Then, I hear that my good friends mom died of cancer earlier .. and suddenly all my problems seem so small in comparison.
