Opus X

Friday, August 19, 2011

A few of my closest friends who were non-smokers in college have turned into smokers now that we're all working. I often wonder why - since vices like smoking and drinking start in college when all your friends do it so therefore is cool and you tent to do it too. I once tried smoking. I called it social smoking. I only do it when I'm out with friends and we are in bars. Everyone's smoking so might as well do it too. I'd be inhaling 2nd hand smoke anyway, so what's the heck. However, I never really go the point of enjoying it so when the bar hopping lessened as we got older, the smoking stopped.

While my little vice stopped, my friends' started his. When I went to the US last December, he asked me to get him opus x since it is cheaper there. I was stunned by his request, I didn't know he was trying cigars now.

Oh well. I never got around to buying though, I didn't have the time to look for it. I wonder what it tastes like though? I mean, cigars, what's the hook there?

1. It's fun to have karaoke nights with friends. It was fun when we were in college, it is still fun for us.

2. Spaghetti is actually is easy to make.

3. I like to be 5 pounds lighter.

4. My son says he is behaving in class, but I will never know!

Bath Ideas

Friday, August 12, 2011

Since I am going crazy over home designs - here are a few shots from cococozy which I would love to take inspiration on for our future masters bathroom.

I especially love the last one. I like that the bath and loo are separated. A stark white bathroom is fine but I'd prefer to have a splash of color just like in picture#1 wherein the window is colored a contrast navy blue. The third picture which has the clawfoot bathtub looks vintage-y which I love too. So I will take those information and inspiration to heart so I won't forget.

Hub and I have been talking about owning our very own house for a few months now and I should say -it's both scary and exciting at the same time. Scary to think about all the money we need for the said dream house, but exciting to know we can finally be on our own.

Adele's Awesome

Thursday, August 11, 2011

There are a few artists that I can say I truly love. One is Beyonce. I love Coldplay as well. Lady Gaga has surprised me and I love her as well.

But right now, my playlist is on shuffle mode with only one artist - Adele. Her songs such as Someone Like You, Chasing Pavements, Rolling in the Deep, Turning Tables and many more tug at heartstrings and I am sure, anyone can relate well to her songs. I guess that's what makes her a genius, her lyrics are provocative yet simply written.

One of my favorite songs from her album self titled "Adele", Someone Like You is a friends ultimate song, she says she can totally relate. Her past relationship fizzled after the her guy found another girl, popped the question right away leaving my friend hurt and shocked with the turn of events. She was looking for Semi mount diamond ring's and the next thing she knew, she was dumped like yesterday's news. She's still single now - probably too hurt to start a new relationship which is too bad because we're not getting any younger. I really wish she'd be singing a different tune soon.

Bibs

Wednesday, August 10, 2011

If you've been a constant reader of this blog, you would know that I am a true blue girly girl. I love anything that glitters. I am always in the look out for what's new, but then again, stay true to my basic aesthetic which is classic chic. One aspect in which I veer off from this aesthetic is when I buy accessories. I am drawn to big chunky pieces in bright colors. Yellow, turquoise, plum and red. I love them all. Last weekend, we went to an expo which showcased local export goods. There were furniture, accessories and clothes. I was naturally drawn to the accessories and was impressed by the talent and creativity of the Cebuanos. Obviously, these accessories were world-class given that these businesses are thriving on their international buyers. Once, I browsed upon hordes and hordes of Beads for sale and contemplated on buying a few to make my own accessories. I am sure I could do it. My project in mind are bibs, but then - time was not on my side and I ended up buying ready to wear bibs from a friend at a reasonable amount, of course. Maybe soon, when the kids are a bit bigger or I can get more time in my hands I can start making accessories as well.

For Me.

Thursday, August 4, 2011

My friends and I were conspirators to a proposal a few months back. It was a whole lot of fun planning and executing the whole thing. We even had the chance to see (and vote for!) the ring even before the bride. While I am completely happy for my friends newly engaged status I can help but feel wistful about my own life. You see, since the baby came in first, we didn't get to experience the whole engaged bit in our relationship. I was browsing through makemyegagementring.com and I became green-eyed with all the beautiful rocks and settings. I am not demanding for one, okay? There are many more uses for the money, but I can't help wishing that maybe, in our 10th anniv (hint2x) Hub would give me this:

I love it. I must have it.

Soon? Soon.

I want SNOW.

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

As you may know, it is terribly HOT in the Philippines, so naturally, one of the things I want to cross out from my bucket list is to play in snow. For that, I have to go to the opposite side of the world of course. I am not talking about a City slushy snow here, but go up in a cabin or something and try snow boarding, skiing or other snow sports out there. I want to be knee deep in snow it's not even funny if you ask me to shovel. Back to the snow sports though, I know they are difficult to do - but Hub says its a whole lot of fun and I believe him. Plus, I wanna make a snowman, throw snow balls and simply play in the snow.

Hub is working in Norway already and it is snowing half of the time if I am not mistaken. He was telling me that if we go there for a visit with the kids, we'll head off to a quaint cabin up North with complete with fireplace and cabin furniture. I really hope as a family we can visit Hubby in Norway. Maybe in 2013? Who knows!

Hubby was here for 3 weeks. Short but sweet. Jammed all activities together.

We had dinner with Hub's family.

We had dinner with my family.

We were able to scout around for lots and houses.

We were able to have our family portrait taken.

We celebrated Joshua's 5th birthday.

We went to imperial palace and stayed for 2 days.

We went out with friends.

Hub and I went to Boracay.

Basically, we bonded and just simply spent time together that will last us until December.

Gatherings

I am getting sick (literally I have the sniffles and my fever goes on and off for the past week) from all the birthdays, dinners, get together, out of towns and beach escapades.

I didn't seem to notice July zoom by. Now, it's the first day of August - a Monday and I am beat.

Hubby already left and is Norway as I type. The kids have grown accustomed to seeing him that they were looking for him the day after he left. Now, what's keeping me busy is the fact that my friend who left for the states 6 years ago is back for a much needed homecoming. Although I haven't been present in all the crazy trips here and outside the City - I make it a point to go whenever I can. Too bad my sons decided to get sick with the flu during the past couple of days, we could have joined more gatherings.

Here's a quick pic of me and my friends, we have not been complete since 2005. I must say - we're still looking great =)
