Should I?

Thursday, October 28, 2010

The opportunity is hard to pass up. But....can I leave the kids for a week? Maybe more? Dad is asking me if I could go to our supplier's expo in Austin, Texas this December. You see, my Dad is uber busy and he thinks its good for me to go and learn more about our business.

The event will be in a month's time. The baby has just been weaned. The little boy would still have school by that time. The hubby would be coming home. Should I???

First things first. I need to check which of my usb drives has my picture. Or else, I may need to go have my picture taken and I need to fill out the form found in http://evisaforms.state.gov/ too. After that, I have to fly to Manila for the interview. Headache. Still, I will do these things. A VISA is a VISA even if I don't get to go this year, maybe next?

Rocky Horror Glee Show

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

I don't understand what the fuss is all about. I am watching Glee Rocky Horror Show and I just realized it was a play during the 70's.

info from wiki

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the 1975 film adaptation of the British musical stageplay, The Rocky Horror Show. The film is a parody of science fiction and B-movie horror films. Director Jim Sharman collaborated on the screenplay with Richard O'Brien, who wrote both the book and lyrics for the stage. The film introduces Tim Curry and features Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick along with cast members from the original Kings Road production presented at the Royal Court Theatre in 1973.

Still in limited release 35 years after its premiere, it has the longest-running theatrical release in film history. It gained notoriety as a midnight movie in 1977 when audiences began participating with the film in theatres. Rocky Horror is the first film from a major Hollywood studio to be in the midnight movie market. The motion picture has a large international following and is one of the most well known and financially successful midnight movies of all time. In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
Glee's version was awesome, fun and different. Loved it.

Ozzy and The Dentist

Joshua's first visit to the dentist went smoothly. He was well-behaved and cooperative. He had no cavities and the Dentist was pleased with this.

However, we had his teeth x-rayed because he hit his tooth last month and now, I feel it is starting to discolor! I really do hope it's nothing. After all its his upper front left tooth!!! ;((

Skin Talk

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Lately, I have been reading more and more about facial care and body care. I guess it comes with age. I am not getting younger and my skin - honestly is getting to be drier. As much as I would like to reverse the aging process, the only thing I can do is to put on creams for preventive maintenance.

I've found the best lotion there is for my skin. A little dollop provides the moisture I need for the day, unlike my other lotions before this one. The thing with it is that it costs 8x as much. Oh well. As long as it does its job then its the price I pay. Anyway - a friend was telling me that what I pay for my skin care regimen is nothing compared to his. For him, the treatment for severe acne comes at a much higher cost because he has special needs. I am just glad I don't have that problem. I am my own problems as it is.

Gift Ideas For Mr and Mrs.

The thing about shopping online is that it has made giving gifts easier ;) Hubby will be celebrating his 27th birthday in a week and my gift for him just arrived in his mail last night. I bought it off ebay and had it sent directly to him.

Ahhh the wonders of the world-wide web. I am such a fan.

...Next in my shopping list??? An anniversary gift!^__^ When we were on our first year as Husband and Wife, we would give gifts in secret. Meaning, it would be a surprise to the other what the other one will give. That wasn't such a great idea because both of us have clear wants with regards to our things. I may be vain but Hubby is equally vain. So, even with the help of the site where they have 1st anniversary gift ideas - it was difficult shopping for him.

The following years we would ask what the other likes and then buy it for each other. It may sound weird and un-sweet but I like it. It's practical. This way, were sure we get what we like, in the exact color, brand and size!:)

and FYI/This year - I would like jewelry or uhmmm jewelry. However, even if our anniversary fell on a December, please don't forget that my christmas gift is different from my anniversary gift. Heehee. An iPhone is a good idea. I will be accepting flowers, chocolates and even a silk & cashmere cardigan shawl - just because it says those are traditional gifts on a 4th anniversary.

Manic Monday #224

If you could go back in time what would your current day self tell your 18-year-old self?
...I'd tell my 18 year old self to enjoy living. Don't over think things. Owwww. don't wear flared jeans and always use sunscreen ;)

Name one thing you could do to improve any important relationship in your life.
My relationship is perfect with everyone except for my Hubby. We're far from each other and life would be perfect if we were together. If it meant I leave the comforts of home and go to a foreign place then I will.

If you were guaranteed honest responses to any three questions, whom would you question, and what would you ask?
I'd ask my fried (who I feel is depressed right now) and then I'd try to help him whichever way I can to sort out his life.

For The Face

Monday, October 25, 2010

I have been using CURE for 2 weeks now. It is great. I don't need to go have facials twice a month anymore. It's amazing to me how this gel like liquid can gently exfoliate my dead skin leaving me with a more glowing white skin ;) Plus it is hypoallergenic so I won't be scared to recommend it to my uber sensitive-faced friends. Now, I don't have to look for the best treatment for acne for a friend. But just in case, I'd still give her the link for the reviews. Information is power. The more we know about the products we put in our skin and body - the safer we are against side-effects that they may leave. I am forever thankful to my parents and their genes because we don't have acne problems. I have friends who need to spend a lot of money for the maintenance of their skin products! Their facial wash alone could go for hundreds of pesos.

Backaches

Ouchie. Inside I feel like a 21 year old, but my 27 year old body disagrees. As early as now, I am having severe backaches when I carry the baby for too long. With my first son, I didn't have this problem. I think all those years refusing to drink my milk is coming back to haunt me. My mother said as early as 2 y/o I stopped drinking milk. I found out about chocolate drinks and I never looked back since. I was wondering if I should take calcium supplements or not. Maybe I should. How can I expect to take care of the boys if I don't take care of myself first.

What I Do In Bed

It's a Monday morning...a holiday because of the local elections. Since we've decided to vote in the afternoon, I decided to try blogging through my phone. The baby is snuggled beside me in bed and here I am - online.

It's awesome.

Technology, gadgets and sites like facebook and twitter make everyone interconnected in a virtual level. While some argue how we have become impersonal, preferring to IM, tweet or email instead of meeting for coffee and going out on dates.

The challenge now is how to keep the balance between online and offline life. In my case, online life is winning lately because I don't have a reason to go out anymore. Hubby is overseas so we communicate via webcam, work load is primarily connected to the internet and social life is just basically facebook. As of now, this is fine for me since the kids are small and I don't want to be out of the house for long periods of time. The world-wide web is amazing, I mean, with one click of the finger, you can access loads of information - from recipe's to directions, from social networks to wedding vows box! Yup, I am doing my christmas and wedding gift shopping online, right in the comforts of home.

No need to rush and find a parking space. No queing and no hassle. Plus, in my case I don't even have to stand up from bed! Yup....Life online is great!

Weaning Diaries: Day 1

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Score?

Baby - 1
Mommy - 0

I lost today's battle. Baby didn't nurse for the whole day. Even slept without nursing. It was a grueling task to put him to sleep which lasted for 2 hours. I had to spoon-feed his milk, but he did sleep without breastfeeding.

However, come midnight where he needed his comfort breast, I lost my initial determination because of exhaustion and gave in to his cries for the boob ;D

Tonight will be a different night. I vow to win this battle.

===

I read a very helpful article on how to wean your breastfed baby in 4 steps. Read the full article here.

Step1 – How to wean from breastfeeding in the morning. If you breastfeed your child during the night, weaning from breastfeeding in the morning can be a good place to start. Start getting up from the bed before your child does. When she wakes up, hold her and play with her for a while and she will forget about breastfeeding. Try to avoid cuddling with your child, instead make it quick, dress up and continue with your usual day activities.

Step2 – How to wean from breastfeeding in the afternoon. Children enjoy afternoon breastfeeding, because they like to have a rest in the afternoon. In case you work, afternoon breastfeeding is something your child probably can’t wait long enough. Play with your child, hold her, carry her, and feed her. Again, use a distraction method to let the breastfeeding off her mind. It is good if you can spend more time than usual together with your child. That way your child won’t spend so much more time thinking about breastfeeding. Over the period of 10 days, she will forget completely about it.

Step3 – How to wean from breastfeeding before sleeping. Breastfeeding before putting your child a sleep is very special. Breastfeeding is very strong sleeping association. Instead of breastfeeding, try carrying your child for a while. Sing to her, tell her that she can relax, you are there and she can go to sleep. There is a great possibility that when you start weaning your child from this breastfeeding, she will wake up less during the night, which will make it much easier to stop breastfeeding during the night.

Step4 – How to wean from breastfeeding during the night. Children have different sleeping habits than grown ups. When they wake up, they search for the same conditions during which they fell a sleep at the first place. That’s why you need to breastfeed or rock your child to sleep every time she wakes up. When your child falls a sleep without breastfeeding, she will not wake up during the night asking for breastfeeding so often any more. And, when she wakes up, sing the same song you used to put her asleep. Touch her back, hold her tight or even carry her during the first few nights. Eventually, your child will learn that she doesn’t need breastfeeding to continue sleeping during the night. And you will finally be able to say that your child sleeps perfectly.

Buy Gold

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

As a parent, I always see to it that my kids' future is secure. We buy them food, clothing and send them to the best schools. We make sure they are free of illnesses and we go to great lengths to protect them. Another thing that we can do for them is to make sure they have something to fall back on in case we're gone. Insurance, having properties and businesses is a great idea. However, a simple thing we can do for them is to buy gold bullion. We can start now. By buying a few coins and keeping them we can be assured that their market resale value will not waver, if in case will get stronger in time. This way, unlike properties, it is easier to distribute to the kids when the need arises.

New Pet

For my son's Show & Tell tomorrow, I was debating whether to let him bring our goldfish or not. While a fish is a good idea, since we can just put it inside a bottle, it would be very difficult for Joshua to carry it.

I want to buy him a turtle, a small one, one that can fit into this small box. After all, we have a lot of turtle food left here at home. We'll see. The last time we had a pet turtle, both died. Which was actually MY fault. My son was devastated. ;( So, getting a new pair would be good for him. Plus, I know the baby will enjoy the little pet as well.

Hair After Rebonding

Got my super dry, damaged hair rebonded by Ruby of Tony & Jackey last Saturday and the result is awe-some! ^-^ What I love about my hairdresser, well Tony & Jackey salon in general is that they tell you the truth about the condition of you hair. While it is true that they are a bit pricey, I feel its worth it rather than regretting the process afterwards. I have friends who have tried going to those cheap 1k for any length rebonding salons and went to Tony and Jackey for damage control, spending double in the end.

Anyway, enough gibber jabber, here's the finished product.

This my hair. I last got it rebonded 2 years ago. It is dry and damaged because of too much hair coloring, ironing and curling.

Then, 4 hours later. ^_^

Ta-da!!

I spent 3.5k for everything. Rebonding. Treatment + Haircut. Good deal in my opinion. My hair feels super soft to the touch. The tips are not dry or frizzy at all.

By the way, before plunging in on the craze - read the facts here first.

Investing In Coins

Ever since I received a silver coin as a gift from my MIL, it has opened me up to the advantages of investing in precious metals like silver and gold coins. You can keep it for yourself, something you can fall back on when times get hard or you can acquire a few pieces now when prices are good then resell it for a better offer later on. Whichever is the case, buying coins is made easy nowadays with United States Gold Bureau. You can now purchase silver, gold or other precious metals and coins for immediate personal delivery or arrange for convenient and safe storage at an independent bank or depository. They will gladly do it for you so that it would not be a hassle.

Right now, I have one antique silver coin. It is heavy - and quite valuable. Someday I wish to pass it on to my kids, so I have to invest more on coins.

Manic Monday #223

What work of art best describes your personality?
...abstract because at time, I don't get me. I can be anything to anyone =)

What was the high point of last month?
Definitely my baby boy's 1st birthday - aside from it being a milestone in all our lives, hubby surpised us all by coming home from Norway. He was here for 12 days and it was loads of fun.

What do you think is the single best decision you've made in your life so far?
When I decided to become a mom. It changed my life 360 degrees. There were times I wanted to cry for sheer exhaustion and stress but I never regretted it one bit.

Worked Up Some Sweat

Friday, October 15, 2010

Yey, goody it's a Friday ;)) 3rd day of my weight loss plan.

I've downloaded and started my Zumba workout earlier. Yupyupyup.

Ozzy was watching me asking what I was doing. I told him I wanted to become sexy. You know what he said??? That's okay Mommy, you're already pretty. ^____^ Awwww. Kids. So HONEST.

So, back to my workout, Zumba is fun....BUT...there's a big but - the routine was intense. I was sweating it out for 10 whole minutes before I decided to quit. ;D Better luck next time. I am tempted to just hit google and find the best diet pills out there for my cause. 4 pounds isn't that hard to lose right? I guess so - but the flab that goes with it is. The only non-invasive way is to exercise, do some crunches, they say but its soooo tiring. Got to suck it up if I want to look my best for December.

Tomorrow, 15 minutes of Zumba.

Cure.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

I seldom rave about stuff but this little sucker had just made it to my top 10 must have's for 2010.

What is it? It's CURE. I got 2 sachets for free when I ordered a set of brushes for my mineral make-up online. I used the 1st sachet and boy did I ever see and felt the results. My mom and brother who used it can attest to its effectiveness as well.

Got the text from the site where I got it.

About Cure

Cure is a product of Japan. It has been selling well in the market for the past 7
years and was ranked the No.1 best seller across Japan in 2005, 2006 and
No.2 in 2007 (http://www.cosme.net ) Cure has created a record-breaking, 1 bottle sold every 20 seconds.
The remarkable result is an affirmation that "Cure Works."

What is Cure
Cure Natural Aqua Gel is a gentle and natural exfoliating gel that removes dead
skin effectively without causing undue stress to the skin. Unlike chemical peels
which use strong acid, Cure is very gentle on the skin and only removes the
unwanted dead skin. It does not dry or thin your skin which causes your skin to be vulnerable to sunlight.

Properties of Cure
Made of 90% revitalized hydrogen water and natural plant extracts of aloe vera,
ginko and rosemary. Contains no preservatives, fragrance, artificial colorings and alcohol.

Benefits of Cure

Our skin is the largest single organ in our entire human body and being the outermost layer of covering, it is most exposed to the harmful effects of ultraviolet light and the free radicals in the environment. Our skin undergoes a renewal process every 28 days where the growth of new skin cells will push up the old skin cells to the surface. When these old skin cells are not removed, it will hinder our skin renewal and regeneration, giving rise to various skin problems such as clogged pores, blackheads, dull skin tone, blemishes, pimples, and etc.

CURE gently and effectively removes old and dead skin cells to regularize skin turnover and prevent skin problems. Cure will complement any facial regime, making sure your moisturizers and serums have better and deeper penetration when your old skin cells are removed. With regular use of Cure, your skin is kept healthy, smooth, and glowing.

91% OF "NATURAL AQUA GEL CURE" IS WATER
Once you take care of the old cells on the skin surface that is difficult to remove from face-washing, there you will find hidden underneath the beautiful skin like a newborn baby's. Once the lotion has been absorbed fully, you will be surprised the next day when applying makeup!

NUMBER ONE SELLING SKIN CARE PRODUCT

As the number one selling skinacare product that contains no artificial fragrance, coloring, or preservatives, Cure will remove 0.01mm of impurities as to uncover new skin. Even without mentioning, everyone will surely notice and say, "Your skin is very beautiful these days!"

For those who desire to become more beautiful than ever before,
CURE IS THE RIGHT PATH! :)
You just got to try it out. You see the difference instantly.

Finance Jobs

Back in college, it still a wonder to me how the passed our accounting subject. Accounting 101 was fine, Cost Accounting was hell. There were other math subject like Calculus and Advance Math but it seemed I only had an issue with Math when they deal with Money. Weird because I love Money (who doesn't!). A few of my classmates went on and pursued accounting finance jobs and is currently doing very well. In my mind, I never thought I'd be into that field. So, its only very ironic how I've ended up working closely with our company's accountant. It's part of the job. When your family has a business, you have to get to know every part of the business - even the accounting side (because its very important too). Since I am the boss's glorified assistant and right hand woman - I do almost all administrative work in the office plus a few technical jobs. Surprisingly, after 5 years - I am getting the hang of it and actually enjoying the work that I do. I still get confused when the terms cash-in bank and debit, credit, depreciate, etc etc come up but bottom line - I am not hating it as much!

Take Your Smoking To The 21st Century

I have bee racking by brains for a few weeks now on what gift to give for Hubby's upcoming birthday.

I want to give him a Philippe Charriol bangle - but I'm afraid I haven't saved enough just yet for that one in time for his actual birthday, so that will be his Christmas gift then. So now, my choices are either a winter jacket or this cool new electronic cigarette on david letterman it was featured. This is actually a win-win gift. Hubby will finally stop smoking and switch to e-cig. It's cheaper than the usual cigarette, its a healthier option plus its non-flammable. More and more people have made the switch and there have been no regrets from their testimonials.

As a bonus, they come in a gift box already with fast shipping anywhere =) Nice. Their tagline, "take your smoking experience into the 21st century with the Smoketip electronic cigarette!"

Another One Bites The Dust

People are always saying goodbye.

I feel like everyone is leaving or has already left, leaving only a handful of my friends and family members here. Sad. I hate goodbyes. I hate it more when I am the one being left behind. Just now, a good friend has told me she will probably leave for the States soon because she's got some prospective healthcare jobs there. On the up side, it would be fun visiting them in NY, but otherwise - its sad that most Filipinos have to leave their family and country behind to pursue a career some place else.

I hope the Aquino administration does something about offering more jobs in the country. The BPO industry is a good start. I dunno how much more brain-drain can the Philippines handle.

Although I have said many times in this blog how I love curly hair, it is not good for everyday look. I am scared to have it permed so I go fir curling it with hair iron as often as I can. Due to that my hair has become brittle and dry! I keep having falling hair and I hate it! I had enough.

So this weekend I am going to have my hair rebonded. That's that. For facts on rebonding btw, to those whose new, read my post in my other blog. Xo

Current Addicition to Zombies

Friday, October 8, 2010

I've been playing a lot of Plants Vs. Zombies when I have free time and this made me have strange dreams lately. This was compounded when hubby and I watched Resident Evil.

Everywhere I look - I imagine dead people walking. Creepy. I gotta stop playing this game....but I can't. It's addictive. Look, I even made my won Zombatar.

Just the other night, I dreamt the Zombies invaded the world! So when I woke up, I thought of places where I could hide when Zombies do attack. Questions like, where do I go, what do I need to bring, should I have a gun, how about food? Provisions?

I guess the best is to go out to sea...have some guns and ammunition's ready, bring all the food and water that I can get my hands into, empty the medicine cabinets and bring a first aid kit.

What will you do if Zombies attack??

The boys are feeling better. Yey.

I have been stressed out since Monday because the boys have this awful chesty cough and then both had high temperature. I had to bring them to the Pedia last Tuesday for checkup to make sure it wasn't anything serious.

Again, it was a viral infection. Joshua and Jacob are taking (aside from cough med) some antibiotics to combat the germs.

Although they are still coughing, I am relieved that the fever has subsided. Goodbye sleepless nights, I missed you so. Also, I can work properly from now on - no more little boys crying for Mommy while I am in the office. Look at what I have to deal with + work at the same time. ;(

We'll have so much fun and become lifelong friends....

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of a pumpkin pie and the number 3333.

1. When you snuck out of your house for the first time, who were you meeting and why?
...I could not remember who but it was definitely because I wanted to meet up with friends.

2. Tell us about the last time that you got your heart broken. Extra points if you publish their naked photo.
...I had to laugh and think where I can get his naked photos =P Anyway, the last one was my bf before Hubby. He was a friends' brother. What we had wasn't official but it hurt me that he lied to me and cheated on me. I hate cheaters.

3. Tell us about someone you know named Bob. (Yes, we know this is a stupid question. Stupid is what we do best.)
...I don't know anyone named BOB heehee that isn't a very common name here in the PI. I do have a cousin-in-law named Bobby. She's not a he. Her real name is Barbara and those close to her call her Bobby or Bob. She's in Bintan now.

4. We just found the perfect retail space. We are giving you the store. What’s its name and what do you sell?
...Fab & Fetch Clothing Store. Clothes, accessories, shoes, bags and everything nice ^-^

5. Tell us about your last “friend with benefits".
...I had none of those =P.

6. Kimber worries a lot. What was the last this that you worried about?

7. Do you believe “once a cheater, always a cheater”?
...YES.

8. Tell us about moving out of your parent’s home. Who did you move in with?
...I still live with my parents!! Would you believe..as of now it seems a good idea because Hubby is away and I would be left alone with the 2 babies. Besides, were still saving up for our own place.

9. What was your most recent regret?
...I guess, I regret not buying that dress I saw which was my size. I may not find it again and it;s a shame because it was priced just right.

10. Berleen recently ranted on face book about having to got to parent-teacher conferences when your child has great grades. What was the stupidest meeting that you most recently endured?
...I seldom go to meetings, parent/teacher meetings are fine for me. I love to hear my kids' feedback from school. After all, this is only my very 1st year to have a preschooler. I would definitely feel differently once both boys are in HS already.

11. Do you collect anything?
...Does bags count? I collect bags.

12. Has anyone ever told you that you were in the wrong job?
...Nope, no one told me that, I tell it to myself. I am in the agri and fuel business because of my Dad.

When I was younger I sincerely enjoyed going to the beach. I love the sun, the water, the sand. I loved looking for shells and fishes and other 'treasures'. 1. My back , surprisingly, is not aching. I pray for your full recovery soon, Janet!.

2. I don't think I can survive for 24 hours out in the wild.

3. Leaves are falling all around, fall is here.

4. I always rely on my planner and list because after giving birth, I am now Mrs. forgetfulness.

5. Healing is a process. It doesn't happen overnight.

6. The game Plants Vs. Zombies is what I've been up to lately!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching Glee, tomorrow my plans include nothing, lazy Saturday! and Sunday, I want to hear mass!
