Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Planning a wedding is a lot of fun, however, we often hear a lot of meltdowns and relationship strains when it comes to the pressures of tying the know. Some get cold feet, other couples just can't get a long or get into an agreement on the littlest thing like wedding favors.

My advice? Plan the marriage! Not the wedding.

The wedding day itself may take months to prepare, but if you and your spouse are not ready emotionally and spiritually, divorce may come sooner than you think.

So - during your wedding day, don't turn into a bridezilla. Don't sweat the small things. Compromise. Have fun then go on to that dream destination weddings honeymoon you've always wanted. Get to know your partner in a much deeper level. Fall in love all over again and start living your life as Husband and Wife in a breathtaking place like the El Dorado Royale Resort in Riviera Maya, its a romantic and fun getaway for you both.

SupahFoods For The Hair

Thursday, February 25, 2010

I've been going on and on and one about my recent hair dilemma all over my 3 blogs: hair loss!!! arggg. I really hope this stops soon because if not, I'd be bald in no time. My aunt insisted I cut my hair. She asked,"Would I rather have short hair?" or "Would I be bald?"

I answered a resounding "No!" to both. I know I know, I am super hard headed. It's just that I want to grown my hair long and for that to work out for me I've read in a yahoo article that I have to eat superfoods for supah fabulouuuzz hair.

Iron
Iron helps bolster hair growth. Find it in meat, shellfish, fortified grains and leafy greens.

Protein
Protein is the building block of every strand, but it can be high in fat. To keep your saturated fat intake low, opt for lean cuts of meat, mix light meat with dark, or choose seafood.

Biotin, B6 and B12
Biotin, B6 and B12 promote new growth within the follicles. Good sources include whole-grain breads, oatmeal, skim milk, lowfat cheese, eggs, salmon, nuts and nut butters.

Zinc
Zinc strengthens natural oils that coat the hair shaft, creating shine. Feast on meat, nuts, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds and yogurt.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps promote cell renewal in the scalp. Get your fill in the form of brightly colored fruits and veggies. Strawberries and kiwis are surprising super sources, as are raspberries, mangoes, oranges and red bell peppers.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is also a hair helper; look for it in apples, apricots and sweet potatoes.

Antioxidants
Antioxidants found in herbs, dark chocolate and fresh berries promote a healthy scalp by sparking cell turnover.

New Car.

I can't think straight.

2 cups of coffee simply wasn't enough. I am cranky and snappish. That's what happens if you only get 3 hours of sleep.

I was suppose to go to our real estate agents and get the official receipts for the lot we purchased a year ago but I don't think I am in the right condition to drive. I might not know the difference between the accelerator and brake pedal (that reminds me to check on the brake fluid and if my car would need some added brake job). The last thing I need right now is added expenses. We're trying to save up for Ozzy will start schooling come June. I also plan to enroll him in Summer classes prior to regular schooling to have him adjusted to "big school".

Anyway, the other reason were saving up is because Hubby and I have been toying with the idea of buying a new car. A nice, new and bigger car like the Chevrolet Silverado is a good choice. But of course, this will have to wait in line, we first have to finish off paying for the lot, then we have to pay some loans and then that's the time we can entertain the thought of a new car. We have to hold on to Whitey for a bit longer for now. Good thing Whitey isn't problematic. Or else we would have had to send it to the car auto repair shop (like that of Dallas auto repair) many, many times.

That's why when you buy a used car like we did, make sure it is in good condition!!!

Is Lasik For You?

Mom, after so much prodding from me of course, finally had her hair dyed. Nothing drastic, just a deep brown color to even out the gray hairs.

It's amazing how a simple color change can boost your look. Mother looks years younger than she actually is! I bet if she went through with her lasik surgery, she'll look much much much younger. My aunt got one and it went fine! My Mom has reservations because she's hypertensive and diabetic. She's worried that complications might arise because of this. I have done a little research and lasik is a pretty safe and rather fast procedure if done with a reputable Ophthalmologist Surgeon. Actually, if you are in the States and want to have it done cheaper, you can try out the procedure for lasik surgery Mexico based Hospitals which comes up with the same safe and 15 minute result.

I wonder if Mom is still open for a lasik surgery? Losing those thick lenses will be totally different from her usual look but I am sure she'll look good either way.

Hats Off

I only had 3 hours of sleep last night.

Totally my fault but wouldn't want it any other way. My friends, The Diva and Bdayboi came over last night to discuss possible party theme ideas and venue for Bdayboi's coming 27th birthday soiree.

They came over at 9PM and went home 3AM.

I forgotten how fun it was just to hang out. We didn't really do much except drink our instant coffee and eat yummy food from breadtalk. We decided to have a "hat" party. Everyone is expected to wear a hat to the party.

I know exactly how I would want to look! Something like this.

I'm too excited! Hats off to Bdayboi for the fun party theme! Xoxo

Working Girl

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I have to place an order for one major customer today. That is why I am up here in the office even though its a holiday for Cebu City.

No worries because luckily for me, my office is located in the 3rd floor of our house. The 2 kids are asleep and instead of napping with them I opted to come up instead.

As if I actually had a choice?

So anyway - there are still a lot of customers calling so its good that I am near the phone. One was inquiring to buy a generator set (brownouts are worsening especially in the south of Philippines) and the other one was asking about water pump repair. I had to politely say we don't cater to water pump requirements and service. I had to hold my tongue when the lady on the phone rudely asked why not.

We get a lot of phone calls asking for many different equipment and service. Just because we have "equipment" in our business name does not mean we cater to all kinds. If you look at the fine print in the yellow pages, it specifically says tractor, parts and services.

Can you believe, we even have calls asking from boat schedule? They mistakenly think we are with the transport system. So wrong.

So, anyway - I finished up reading about Phoenix auto repair because the car's oil light kept on blinking already. I was reading on how often I should replace the oil and stuff to keep the car going smoothly. Apparently, the car is due for oil change! Has it been 6 months since the last tune up and oil change? Imagine that. Time flies when your busy. So I've decided to visit the neighborhood repair man to have the car tuned up and while in there I'd have the timing belt replaced too.

The last thing I need is to have my car stop in the middle of traffic because I'd surely leave it there. I don't know a thing about cars! Hmp.

Okay. Back to work! Baboo.

73rd Charter Day: Special non-working day throughout Cebu City

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Just 'cuz everyone is asking...I've finally found the answer. Yes. Yes MARC its a holiday for Cebu City tomorrow. No work. :P

CEBU CITY, Feb. 17 — Cebu City residents and those who work in the city will enjoy a holiday on Feb. 24, a Wednesday, when the Cebu City Government celebrates its 73rd Charter Day.

Students will also enjoy two holidays next week. There will be no classes in all public and private schools in the city on Feb. 24, and a special holiday for all schools will also be observed on Feb. 22, a Monday.

The country will commemorate the 24th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution on Feb. 25 yet. But in Proclamation 1841, President Arroyo moved its observance to the Monday closest to the anniversary.

Republic Act 7287 signed by former President Corazon Aquino declares Feb. 24 a special non-working day throughout Cebu City as it celebrates its Charter Day.

Cebu City Information Officer Nagiel Banacia said there will be no work and classes on that day. (PNA)

Mama Ding @ 93

Monday, February 22, 2010

..I really thought it was a Holiday today. Alas, it is - but a working Holiday. Schools out but offices are expected to open. Aargg.

Anyway, since I am in NO mood to work (just yet) I will tell you what happened during our trip to Jaro, Leyte last weekend. We left the house around 2PM; the good news is we were on time. The bad news is Baby J wasn't able to have his nap which resulted to a cranky baby. He was crying so much on the way there. Maybe he didn't like the pressurized cabin on the plane. I wouldn't know really unless I understand baby babble. Hmp. I sang so much ABC's and 4 Little Ducklings to no avail.

At least I got to showcase my vocal prowess to those people in seats 13ABCD and 15AB. Sorry.

Anyway, we held the birthday celebration of my paternal grandmother on Saturday (her actual birthday was on the 18th). We had lechon and as usual Big J wanted to talk to the lechon. What was he saying? I didn't really hear - but maybe he was saying,"Get in my belly piggy!". LOL. It was a tiresome trip with the 2 kids, good thing even my brother helped!

Grammy was funny. She's still pretty strong for a 93 year old. She can walk and you can have a conversation with her as long as: #1 you speak up real loud and #2 prepare to repeat that same conversation after 5 minutes.

It's funny 'cuz she's always hungry even though she was fed a plateful of cake 5 minutes ago. She would then proceed to ask,"Tagi ako matimo Inday, nagugutom na ako…” complete with pa "sad-look". She prefers her food sweet. Iced-tea, cake, pastries, bread and chocolate drink is her food of choice. No diets nothing bawal.

Even though she doesn't know who we were exactly she knew we were her relatives. We kept saying that Baby J and Big J were here great-grandsons! She'll give you a smile and that occasional nod then go on doing here hand gestures (as if conducting a choir) while listening to a distant beat only she can hear.
When Baby J squeezed her hand, she complained and said the baby had a very strong grip. Her fragile hand was hurt. She's 93 after all.

I will never forget what she said when we arrived; I proceeded to take her hand and nag-mano as a sign of respect. Then she said," Ow..naa man diay dalaga!" She thought I was single!!! I'd take that Mama Ding ^_^

Extra Care For My Tresses

I've been rambling on and on for weeks now about my hair dilemma. If you are a reader of this blog, you would have guessed it - this hair dilemma is hair fall. After giving birth 10-20% of women experience hair fall due to changes in hormones. While others feel it more than that of some, no one really knows how to avoid this all together.

Some women visit their friendly neighborhood hairdresser and opt for a much shorter cut while others pile on the expensive hair care product to reduce the fall. I am one of the latter.

Since I have decided that 2010 is the year that I grow my hair super long as opposed to 2007 thru 2009's bob; then I have no choice but to suffer thru the consequence of my decision. Yes, I am vain when it comes to my hair. I take extra measures to ensure I don't damage it and yes, I am guilty of 500-peso haircuts and 5,000 peso treatments. Good thing I read about this just in time. Apparently, there's vitamin for hair loss. I want my hair to become thick again in time for my BIL's wedding by the end of this year. Thick, long and curly is the goal. Will I look good with it? We'll see. No worries, for sure I will keep you posted.

Reasons Why Couples Fight

There are many different reasons why couples fight and it's not so easy to get away because you live with your spouse, at least not for any length of time; so sooner or later you will need to either resolve it or continue to battle. However, the most common reason (you are free to argue) in my opinion is money/money issues. Be it the lack of funds or the abundance of it monetary issue can lead to dispute if not handled properly. So what are the others aside from finances?

I am so not the expert in these things so I sought the help of Mr.G and these are the answers that came up:

1. Sex is the second highest reason married couples fight. They either don't get enough sex or not very good sex. To add to this there's the porno issue, this occurs after a wife catches her husband watching it online or finds out he's been going to strip clubs. And let's not forget cheating this one usually turns into a huge cat and dog fight and at times ends in violence.

2. This next one is funny. Married couples fight over annoying habits. Some of the top annoying habits are: burping, farting, pick your nose or teeth, changing the TV or radio channel, being bossy, nagging and leaving the toilet seat up or down.

3. Lastly, we have chores. Yes, married couples are still fighting over who takes out the trash, who washes the dishes, cleans the house, does the laundry, mows the lawn, and who takes primary care of the kids.

Married couples fight from anything & everything from attitude concerning important decisions to the smallest things you can think of....in our case DH and I fight more on each others annoying little habits!! I hate it when he judges my driving skills (or lack thereof) and other little quirky stuff. Hubby has experienced sleeping outside the house and I have yet to throw out his clothes because of too much drinking. Also, it bugs me when he plays computer games instead of tending to the kids. Minor things really, but don't get me wrong; I am a very patient gal when it comes to him. As a couple we've never had any major fight and I am praying we won't have one EVER, sure we argue almost everyday when he's here but nothing to cry home to Mama about. I may have sought the help of the best acne treatment from the many zits caused by anxiety over his vices - but these are all part of being in a relationship. You have to adjust, accept and move on in order to be happy. Being too hung up on the minor things is bad for the marriage and for your health!

Chaos Waiting To Happen

Bear with me here. I've been in blogging marathon and so far I am loving the buzz. I guess that extra shot of coffee in the morning helped. I really don't care at this point if zits will magically appear on my face because I lack sleep..there's acne pill's for that; my main concern now is to finish all within this week.

We are due to fly to the province this Friday. While I am happy and excited to see my cousins, aunts and 93 year old grandmother whose celebrating her birthday - I am anxious that I won't be able to handle the kids by myself. As if 1 toddler in a plane is not enough, add to the mix my 5-month old son that usually means chaos waiting to happen. We're not the Jolie-Pitt's who has out own airplane y'know. Originally, DH was suppose to be with us. Since he left unexpectedly I have no choice but to push thru with the trip because the tickets have been bought and plans have been made.

Anyway, I'll let you know how this chaos works next week.

Showered With Stars

My eyes literally bulged out of its socket when I saw more tasks pending for me to do in Sheriff's site. Hurray for my sideline. In no time, I'd be able to save enough for Ozzy's schooling fee. After that, I'd save some more and buy myself a bag or a watch from my fave seller Faye. Her stuff is posted here. The black Michael Korrs flats looks delish. I want it. I just doubt that my 5.5 feet will fit. You see, I don't want a shoe that doesn't fit right! Now, I am debating whether to ask Faye about its price. So anyway, here I am busy as a bee to blog 'till I can. We will be leaving in a few days so that leaves me with today until Thursday to finish these opps.

How 'bout you? We're you showered with st♦rs for V-day too?

Aim for 3?

Say what???

Yup, DH is on his back to Norway as of writing this. Just last week I was blogging about his being sad and all about not having his contract renewed. We didn't quite expect it but he was offered a job and was due back ASAP. This news didn't really shock me because I knew sooner or later DH would land a job, his employer was saying he had to wait a while before their project would start. We just didn't expect it to be so soon. The kids are fine, they don't really grasp the idea of being away from their Father just yet. When asked about the whereabouts of his Daddy, Ozzy would nonchalantly reply,"In Norway, working."

...And if you're wondering if I'd be needing prenatal vitamins???? The answer is no. Actually had a pregnancy test just to be sure. Were we even trying? Nope. Not this time anyway. It's too soon for another baby. But if we do have one, I am still hoping & praying for a GIRL.

Saturday 9: It's a Beautiful Morning

It's way past Saturday but heck, here's my Saturday 9!

1. Are you a morning person?

Yes I am. As long as I've had my fill of coffee I am good to go.

2. Tell us of a news story that truly shocked you.
During the Winter Olympics, a luger died during a practice run...I saw the video and it really shocked me. More of that story here.

So Sad.

Getting sick, having cancer - dying are no laughing matter. Since there's no known way to escape such killers, all we have to do is be armed with information for prevention, latest treatment, medication and possible cure for diseases such as malignant Mesothelioma of asbestos disease.

I couldn't count anymore with my fingers how many cases - friends and family succumbed to cancer related deaths. It is very very sad and I couldn't begin to imagine caring for someone who's fighting for their lives. So my advice, learn all about prevention, eat healthy and live to the fullest!

Such A Blur

Naturally, I have forgotten all about getting a policy for life insurance for DH before he left. It was all a blur of activities last Friday and Saturday to prepare for his trip yesterday that the life insurance quotes left by my agent never got reviewed by DH. Oh well, we'll look into it on July together. Promise.

As of writing this, Hubby would probably be up in the clouds going to Frankfurt. He is due to arrive in Stavanger, Norway around dinner time. Big brother wasn't too affected with his Father leaving. I guess kids are like this - resilient little beings. He knows his Dad is flying back for work and he just simply stated he wanted dinosaur toys as gift when Daddy returns. That made Hubby and me laugh. Ahh kids and their simple happiness. Got to love that about them.

Alone Again, Naturally.

Bitter-sweet is how I would describe my Valentine's Day. Two days before v-day, DH got a call from his Agency that he is due to report back to work on the 16th, "of March???" I asked surprised. "No, he said, 16th as in next week!" Oh my, that means he has to leave on the 14th or else he can't be in Norway on time.

So, there I was on the night of the 14th saying goodbye once again. It wasn't as hard this time around - I was numb already. I was thinking of happy thoughts instead. Also the fact that he's coming home on July means we're going to be apart for 5 months only. Job means financial stability. It was hard for him the couple of months he was in-between jobs and I saw that. It was difficult because he wanted so much to provide for us in whichever way he can. We actually didn't think he was going back overseas to work - but I guess this blessing is a nice valentines gift for us.

So now I am alone again - naturally (I just love this song). Although these coming months would be difficult, seeing the kids and I have adjusted to the fact that DH was here..but we will be all right. I am glad my family is here, manly stuff to do around the house (like looking for decent fuse holders) ) are dutifully done by my brother so I'm not worried too much. It's the disciplining of the kids, particularly of Ozzy that I'm worried about. I tend to be more on the "lenient" side of parenting, DH on the other hand was the disciplinarian. I just hope to fill in both shoes and be a balanced parent. Wish me luck!

Fade Those Marks

Thursday, February 11, 2010

I've tried and tried, rubbed and rubbed - but the stretchmarks are here to stay. They have actually been here after I gave birth to my first son, that was 3 1/2 years ago. However, it faded slightly and had become less noticeable. I was happy. All I needed was a firmer tummy and I can wear a 2-pc suit with confidence again. Even actresses and Hollywood stars like Pretty Woman herself Julia Roberts can't escape the reality that comes with child birth - and that is saggy breasts, saggy tummy, stretchmarks and ugly cellulite's. My beef is the the stretchmarks. I don't care about the sag, there's wonder bra's for that, I can do crunches for my saggy tummy and I don't have cellulite's. I know for a fact there's no known fix for stretchmarks since the skin was excessively damaged when stretched over and above its limit, we can only apply products that can fade stretch marks so that it will blend evenly with our skin tone. This will be my only hope this time around. The birth of the second baby added more marks into my tummy and legs so I hope to have the marks fade in time for summer!

No Memes?

I am guessing, like me, everyone is busy doing something online and offline.

Some of my favorite meme's have not been updating recently. So much for fillers. Manic Monday, Ten on Tuesday and Thursday Thunks failed to update their meme's this week and I don't really blame them. I know how life offline can get so stressful - also there's Facebook (with is new makeover) whose really becoming everyone's guilty pleasure. Games like Mafia Wars, Farmville and Pet Society have invaded our consciousness. In my case, Bejewelled Blitz has welcomed me into the dark side a few months ago has been slowly washed out of my system (Thank God).

Anyway - I read in the newspaper our area would be affected by the rotational blackout once again so I'll wrap this up!!! Have a great Thursday everyone. I'm off to the pedia in a few minutes. Ciao.

Investing in Gold Bullions

I've been thinking of ways to roll my money and not let it sit in the bank for too long. Banks offer a very minimum interest rate when it comes to savings as opposed to loans! So unfair right? But heck, that's life - its never fair. Anyway, since our family business will expand this year from Single proprietorship to Incorporation, DH and I are planning on investing on company stocks. There are actually many ways and means to invest your hard-earned cash in, for example investing in gold - may it be in coins or bullions. Now is the perfect time to buy gold bullion especially in Thailand stock market where there is an approval by The Capital Market Supervisory Board to permit two different types of gold ETFs (exchange-traded funds) into the market. The two types will be: ETF feeder fund investing in an overseas gold fund and an ETF directly investing in gold bullion in the local market. I don't have much knowledge on this though - so I better stick to buying shares for our company in the meantime.
