TT: A Bunch of Stupid Q's from Kimber

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Welcome to the July 30th version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it?
::: Considering I am with my group of friends, I'd probably join in questioning who did it and never ever admit even if its pretty obvious. FYI, pregnant women are gassy. LOL :::

2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw?
::: A dress because I am a frustrated designer or maybe Barney. Naturally I would think of the BIG PURPLE Dinosaur since my son (dunno why!!!) loves him so much. :::

3. Do you ever pee in the shower?
::: Ewwww what a question!!!! Yes. LoL :::

4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist?
::: Nope but I heard so much about that site and I will check it out one of these days. :::

5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do?
::: Slowly back away from the scene, I would be too scared to even bother to butt in. :::

6. While shopping for produce, do you "sample" before you buy (i.e. grapes)?
::: Usually I don't. I just pick stuff up without looking or examining it properly which annoyed my mother so many times already. I have a lot to learn according to her. :::

7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store - do you just keep walking?
::: Toddler(s) one or more? Knowing myself, I'd prolly go over there and ask him (assuming only one toddler here) where his parent's are. If he tells me he's lost I'd take him to the police and make sure he goes home safely. :::

8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online?
::: Nope; didn't look up any ex's but did look up for old friends and its fun catching up again. :::

9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going?

::: Just keep going. :::

So Kimber? Did you make Q #1 and 3???

Waiting Game

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

I'm not alone, but I am lonely without you.

Allow me to be cheesy for a bit. I really feel down lately.

Yes, shopping has been a therapy. However, it is not enough. I am so close to giving birth already - currently at 31 weeks my OB said I might give birth in 6 weeks - the realization that the Husband wouldn't be there to see our 2nd baby is eating me up. I remember he used to tell me how happy he felt looking at our 1st baby in the nursery minutes after I gave birth. He told me how our boy Ozzy was the only baby fussy about the lights - all the other kids were behaving except him. He was laughing because Ozzy looked so cute trying to hide from the blinding yellow lights. Now, he won't be able to experience that. He will see the baby but only in pictures and that's not really the same. If he comes home on December that means the baby would 3 months already. He has missed 1/4 of the baby's life.

Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice.

I always repeat that word every time I feel lost and unsure of our decision to have a long distance relationship. We both know it is for the best though. So nothing much we can do but wait until he comes home and we become whole again.

A Great Invention

Friday, July 24, 2009

Lately I've been having difficulty in getting a nice long shut eye. I pee constantly and I can't seem to find the perfect sleeping position. I sleep beside the little man and he insists that I wrap my arms around him when we sleep. This was okay before I got really big. Now, I just want to sleep on my side with a big pillow tucked in between my legs. I also hate having to prop up the pillows every now and then just so I can read in bed or be in front of the laptop. I've seen ads on bed wedges and I must say I am intrigued. I can use them especially if I am working on an article or watching a video in bed. Since my OB advised me to put up my feet whenever I can to avoid legs cramps, this nice wedge would be perfect for me. Also, this awesome invention can remember the contour of your body so no need to constantly fluff or prop up your mattress. You are assured of a comfort all the time.

Great TV Deals

Watching television is a luxury. When I was young we only had one tv, a small one found in our living room. It was a treat whenever there were cartoons in the local channel since we didn't have cable or satellite tv then.

Now, we have cable, a television in the living room, in the kitchen, in the 2nd floor and 3rd floor or our house. So there's no excuse really to miss a tv show. I myself seldom watch much television ever since local cable provider decided to take out my fave channel and exchange it for 3 crappy channels. I was asking my father about switching to satellite tv instead. I bet they can offer better channels and reception. What good is a nice HD TV when you have not so stellar reception right? Anyway, there are information about Satellite TV Deals, types of programs and packages and the best prices available to check out. I personally want to make sure we have good Movie channels on Satellite TV because I seldom go out for movies anymore. A good movie in the comforts of your own house is a much better idea for me.

Thursday Thunks : July 23rd Version

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Welcome to the July 23rd version of Thursday Thunks!
(which we always seem to post on Wednesday)
Where we make you think a little bit before you blog!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Berleen, the number 22 and the color of the last road kill you saw.

1. You walk into a store and the cashier is being held up by a robber. The robber's accomplice is dead on the floor at your feet with a shotgun laying next to him. The robber does not see you, but the cashier does - what do you do? ::: Pick up the gun & point it at the robber and then instruct the cashier to call the police - that is what a normal, sane & calm person would do; but I'd be realistic here, I'd probably freeze on the spot, maybe pee a little. I would be too terrified to move that's for sure. :::

2. We go to an ice cream shop for an ice cream cone. You say you are buying and I am going to stay in the car. You ask me what I want and I say "surprise me", what kind of ice cream cone am I going to get? ::: Durian flavored ice cream just 'cuz I want you to taste it. I bet you'll love it :) It's better than eating the fruit itself because it doesn't smell as bad. Surprise, surprise!!! :::

3. You have a dream that your co-worker, friend or whoever is hit by a garbage truck after they back into a ladder with a black cat on it. The next day you see that person standing by a ladder with a black cat on it and there is a garbage truck driving down the road.... what do you do? ::: I guess I would make sure that my friend stays far away from the garbage truck as possible. I am not necessarily a believer in those things but in this case where everything matches my dream; I'd rather take the necessary precaution. :::

4. What is the most money you've won on a lottery or scratch off ticket? ::: I've never bet on lottery or scratch off ticket...so none. zero. but I did win roughly $40.00 on a slot machine from a single coin - I bought a nice fuchsia pointy high heeled shoes with the money. :::

5. A neighbor kid down the street comes to your door and offers to wash all of your windows outside for $10 - do you have him do it? ::: No. We have people here at home paid to do that, no need to hire another one. :::

6. Go to Google Images. Type in the name of the last movie you saw. Post the first picture that comes up. ::: Any idea what movie I watched??? :::

7. Your local animal shelter calls you and says there are 3 dogs that need an immediate foster home for 3 days. If you do not accept, the dogs are put down that day. Do you take them in? ::: Oh gosh, what a moral dilemma, I don't 'love' dogs...but my son does..I don't want to have them killed but I don't want to take care of them too..so I'd probably call my aunt who loves dogs and ask her to take them in for 3 days, I bet she will agree. :::

8. What is the messiest room in your home? ::: That's a tie between my sister's bedroom and my brother's room. Although my sister has more stuff so more mess, but you cannot discount the foul smell from my brother's bedroom so they tie. :::

9. Have you ever been to a wedding that participated in a strange tradition that you had never heard of? ::: Nope, but that would be fun. :::

10. Name one sport that you just don't get. ::: Golf. Sorry Dad!!!! and by the way Happy 56th birthday! Xoxo :::

11. What was the last email that came into your inbox about? ::: Payment request from PAYPAL for something I recently purchased :) :::

12. Have you ever purchased anything from a sex shop? Extra points if you tell us what it was.... ::: I wish ahahaha - we once bought a nice big D for a friend's birthday. She hated us for giving her something so useless ahahahaha its gathering dust somewhere in her room but we had a good laugh about it. :::

13. Go back to that Google Images link... type in the last food item that you ate. Post the 2nd picture it comes up with.

14. Got any bumper stickers on your vehicle? What are they? ::: Nope, my bumper is clean of stickers, bumps and scratches *smile* :::

15. What meme question do you wish was never asked again? ::: Describe yourself in 3 words or any question related to that. I never did get the hang of answering that question, describing myself in a few words or 1 sentence is not enough. :::

Ozzy's 3rd Birthday

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Ozzy's 3rd birthday party held at Jollibee in Ayala Center Cebu was a success. Even with the last minute cancellations of many kids (because of colds!!) a good number of kids still turned up. I wanted to have 20 or more kids but only about 18 came which was fine really. Ozzy was - as usual SHY. He would not let go of my hand. And at some point told me not to talk to anyone else but him! He would cover my mouth and say, "Don't say Hi Mommy". His father said Ozzy is like him this way, shy when there are lots of people.
The Jollibee birthday package is scheduled for 2 hours only. At first I thought that was really short, but you know what when kids are involved 2 hours is enough after that they get really noisy and cranky. The first 30 minutes would be waiting for the guests to arrive. This is the perfect time to mingle and talk to the guests. The next 30 minutes is for the games. Good thing the hosts and staff of Jollibee are qualified and well equipped with "enthusiasm" for this one. Then its 30 minutes for eating and then the last 30 minutes would be where Jollibee and another mascot would go out. Jollibee and Hetty danced a medly of pop songs which included Insomnia, Poker Face and Boom Boom Pow. It was so much fun. The kids enjoyed it and the adults too. After it was time for blowing the candle, then giving of loot bags. Then lastly - picture taking of course.

More pictures ::: HERE :::

All in all I'd say it was money well spent. We spent time with the family and friends without so much stress and preparation in my part. Also, Ozzy and the other kids had so much fun. Not to mention he had so many gifts to open after that.

1.what is one thing that will put a great big ole smile on your face? my son and his many crazy antics and of course, the husband.

2.Your walking down the street toward a very familiar face. As you get closer you realize you do not remember this persons name at all. Do you speak with the chance that they'll want to stop and chat or do you pretend that you don't see the person? I'll just nod, smile and keep on walking.

3. Are you the Rock or the sponge of your household? a rock :) my son's rock.

Urethane_sponge(ウレタンスポンジ)

4. You have gone over to a friends for dinner. You look down at your plate and notice a great big ole hair hanging out from inside your sandwich. What do you do. ? I'd probably ask for another one and not make a fuss about it.

5. If you HAD to name one....who would you say is your role model? my dad. he's such a hard worker and ahead of his time.

Dr. Phil

6. Have you raised children? if so do you think your parenting skills were top notch or could have used a little help from Dr Phil? it's okay, not at all top notch, I would listen/read parenting advise from friends, family and some books but not necessarily Dr. Phil.

7. would your -(Past or present)- mate/spouse, significant other/whatever -say that living with you has been like a gentle breeze or more like a hurricane? A gentle breeze :)

8. When you shop at the grocery store, do you always shop exactly by a list or just go helter skelter and hope that you get home with most of what you need? Shop what's exactly on the list. I am on a budget and its easier to stick to that.

Reminder: Back Up!

One great idea? Backup your files!!! Sheesh. I am so guilty of not doing this. Remember Carrie Bradshaw's character in Sex in the City where her MAC crashed, she wrapped it in a blue pashmina and rushed it to a service center, alas it can be repaired but the files were lost. Lesson learned for her right there. I actually backed up my files after watching that episode. I burned them all in DVD's and copied them in an external hard drive. If I knew online storage was an option I would have also done that to save on buying CD's and storing them. I am scheduled to back up my files again soon, I am doing it every 6 months you know. Twice a year isn't that bad, but its not that ideal too. My PC saves all my work (online and actual job) so if this crashes, I am toast without a backup in hand. That's why I was thinking I have to back up monthly at least. How about you do you back up?

I'm Breaking Out

We had a crazy, fun weekend. It was my little boy's birthday week after all. Posted the pictures in my Facebook account, but there are some posted here too. You may want to take a peek. Do I look 30 weeks pregnant? Anyway, with all the stress in preparing for his birthday party, I got a bad case of acne yesterday. When I woke up earlier, they have multiplied. Now, you can find red spots on my cheeks and even forehead! Oh no, its High school all over again. I may not yet be needing an acne treatment right now but if this keeps up then I have to do something about it already.

I am not familiar with what's good for acne because growing up, I never had a problem with breakouts. I'd have a few but nothing that's worth worrying over. However, now at 30 weeks pregnant it seems the hormones have taken over and it has manifested itself through the zits. Oh well, only 70 more days to go or 8-10 weeks more and I'll see my baby#2!

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 15 and the color of windows.

1. Do you know anyone with heterochromia? Does it freak you out or do you think it's interesting? ::: I'd probably think it is very interesting!! Wow, I once saw a dog with this condition. Lookie. Isn't he a cutie??? He came up to me slowly which freaked me out, I thought he wanted to bite me, turns out he just wanted his picture taken. :::

2. Should a 5th face be added to Mount Rushmore? If so, who? ::: Nope. Why not make something else, in some other place? Add Obama's face... the first ever Black US President. :::

3. If you could live on any planet other than earth, which one would you choose and why? ::: Mars, I'd like to meet little green Martians :::

4. We're going to spend the night at a reportedly haunted location, are you going with us? If so, which reportedly haunted place are we going? ::: Nope, I'd stay home where I am safe and comfortable, haunted place? Maybe the Dungeon? lol :::

5. Did you play The Queen's Meme this week? If so, was it fair of The Queen to put Berleen in the dungeon by association with Kimber? (We all know Kimber deserved it, but Berleen?!) ::: Hahaha yeah, I played. I saw that Kimber was placed in the Dungeon! Shucks. Poor Berleen she does not deserve to be in the dungeon. :::

6. What color is the towel(s) hanging in your bathroom? ::: Blue (my sons) and White (mine). :::

7. Tell us something funny that happened to you recently. ::: My son was trying to be funny called me a "sperm whale and/or elephant" because according to him I am "soooo BIG" - he just turned 3 last Tuesday and he's such a wise little thing already! I tell him its his little brother inside me that's causing me to be sooo big, he doesn't seem to buy my excuse at all :::

8. We just bought you a cow. Do you kill it & grill it, feed it & milk it, or sell it? ::: I'd sell it, I don't have a barnyard here y' know and use the money to buy lots of burgers. For some reason I am craving a quarter pounder just now! :::

9. It's 115 degrees outside (46 degrees Celsius), are you able to go without Air Conditioning? ::: As long as there's an electric fan then okay, but if not NO. I cannot go without airconditioning and I'd probably whine and go to the mall to cool off :::

12. We are taking you to a broadway show, what are we going to see? ::: I've always wanted to see The Phantom of the Oprah silly me Opera! :::

13. Gunshots in your neighborhood. Pop, pop, pop. Do you go out to take a look, or hide? ::: I'd take a peek for sure and make sure no one's hurt...maybe call 911 all this time making sure to take cover. :::

Bleak Future for Filipino Kids

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

We always hear the phrase, "Kids are our future" but what is the Government doing all the hard-earned taxes paid by its Citizens? Well, they go into their personal pockets. How else can they maintain their lavish lifestyle right? What's all this drama first thing in the morning you ask? Well, I am just irked that almost half of the Congressmen are going with GMA to the US for her meeting with President Obama. I feel like that's too many, does the President need that much entourage? The money could have been put to better use: for fixing the roads, public schools, housing projects and many more. It's sad to see the kids in public schools without proper well written books, school supplies and some even bring their own chair to school for lack of classroom chairs. Some even hold their classes under the trees, and no, not because it is an "adventure" or its "fun" but because they don't have a choice. There's not enough classrooms and teachers. How else can these children be the future when their own future looks bleak. Education is important; instead of fighting over CON-ASS and other Political drama, I hope the next Philippine President will focus on the job at hand.

The Blog Outside The Box Meme

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Welcome to our first edition of The Queen's Meme. It's exciting to start a fresh new meme in the blogosphere. I hope you enjoy our "live" launch and come back to play again. The question format and subject will vary. Each week the type of meme will change; sometimes silly, sometimes serious, but always fun! If you'd like to be linked here as a member of the royal family, just leave a comment and of course, please link back to us. Feel free to grab a badge from the sidebar for your own blog or copy and link the image you see here. Now let's get started!

The Blog Outside The Box Meme

This meme is all about using your imagination. Free your inner blogginess. Step outside the proverbial blox (that's blog + box for all you non-blog speakers). Answer these ridiculous situational questions and post them on your own blog. Here's the situation for today. We won't tell a soul. And remember: Don't end up in the dungeon.

1. You are in court. You are in deep doo-doo. What did you do? ('Cause if you want, I might could talk to the judge and get your sentence reduced to Bloggingham dungeon time.) ::: Deep doo-doo? I probably ran over someone or wrecked someone else's car! (hope that NEVER happens though) because I am such a terrible driver. :::

2. Your blog just became a best-selling book . What is the title of your book ?
::: "How to stay fabulous despite the diaper bag" :::

3. It is midnight. The phone rings. It is Michael Jackson calling from the Great Beyond. What would you like to ask him? ::: How did you get my number!!!????? Seriously, I like his music but that's about it. I was never a fan FAN you know? Maybe I'd ask him the truth about his kids, are they really his? :::

4. You are having your future told. The fortune teller looks in the crystal ball, screams and leaves the room in fright. What did they see? ::: Maybe her reflection 'cause as far as I know, there's nothing horrific about my life. :::

5. You're blogging along minding your own blusiness (that's blog + oh...you know) when Google unexpectedly puts a Objectionable Content Warning on your blog. Your own mother is afraid to enter! What, pray tell, did you do to warrant it? How did this happen? Do you think you deserve it? Just how objectionable are you? Do tell. ::: LoL, Id probably wonder why I was categorized as such, maybe because of all the memeing??? I really don't know, I don't deserve it for sure, my blog is not objectionable in any way...right???? :::

6. You suddenly become God Of The Universe. What would your first Commandment be? ::: I really don't want to answer this one. Maybe because talking about religion and such makes me uncomfortable. I was watching Simpson's last night and I was a bit offended by the story line which involved Marge's objection on Catholicism. For me, its live and let live. :::

7. And finally, what secret would you like to tell the Queen? Not to worry. What happens in Bloggingham, stays in Bloggingham. ::: I currently weigh 114lbs but I tell people I am only 112! LOL :::

Join us here. So did I end up in the dungeon???

MCQ:Covering all ends tattoos to Botox

Monday, July 13, 2009

This weeks meme:
Welcome to the July 13 version of Monday Crazy Questions.(which will be posted by Sunday eve)
This is just a short meme meant to have some quick fun and not get too tedious! Copy and paste onto your blog, answer the questions and DON'T FORGET TO SIGN IN Below to let us know where your answers are.
Every Monday we will post questions that we hope are a little thought provoking! Post pictures in your answers to the meme if you want to!
Have fun!

1. Do you have a tattoo...?? if so What and where is it?? if not do you have a secret desire to have one? Nope, I don't have one...:( BUT I DO have a secret desire to have one. I'd put it on my nape or somewhere that is not easily visible. Something sexy and then it has some mystery to it.

2. You have been offered a free botox treatment...where do you have them put it? I'd turn it down. I don't want to look like a plastic doll, besides I am 26 y/o I don't think I need it anyway.

3. Do you have a good luck charm? what is it? Do you think it works? Nope. I don't. Not being OA here, but prayer for me works. All the time. That's my only "good luck" charm.

4. When was the last time that you said something to someone that you REALLY wished you hadn't said? I can't recall anything right now, maybe because there's none. I am almost always careful on what I say.

5. The bath water is running, the phone is ringing, the dog is barking and there is someone at the door.....what do you do? Ignore everything else and continue with my bath. With many people living in our house, someone else will get the door for sure.

6. Your best friend from high school just popped in from out of town. do you offer them a place to stay or suggest a hotel?
We don't have an extra room here at home. So she's better off in a hotel.

7. Have you ever seen a ghost? No and I hope I will NEVER see one.

8. Someone is driving in front of you rather erratically and slowing you way down...now you see that they are talking on a cell phone and checking themselves out in the mirror. The other lane is blocked off so you can not go around them. What do you do??
I'd probably honk to get the driver's attention. That's an accident waiting to happen right there. Besides, I'm in a hurry.

The Better To See You With

Friday, July 10, 2009

My Optometrist's office recently burned down. When I heard the news I was so sad for her because she was also a friend. Whenever I go to her office, she'd patiently assist me until I find the perfect pair of glasses. Mine are not really graded, only tinted enough to protect my eyes from the glare of staring into computers all day. Thankfully, I still have 20-20 vision but I squint a lot due to over use and abuse. That's why when using the PC or Laptop, I would wear glasses. I don't know if my Doctor will set-up her office in the same place though, good thing, online I found affordable $ 8 Rx eyeglasses from Zenni Optical. Since hubby has my white framed glasses and left me with a black one; I plan to buy another one with a thin frame. I was pleasantly surprised to see Zenni Optical on TV!!! Kudos to them for quality and affordable products. A special High Five to Zenni Optical from a happy customer. It's perfect for parent's looking for eyeglasses for their children especially now that school's starting.

Berleen & Kimber wanted to thank all you Thunkers for playing! This is rapidly becoming a very popular meme...you all love us, you really really love us! When we started Thursday Thunks, there was 3-4 usually a week. We try to read and comment on each Thunker each week. As a work at home mom and a stay at home/homeschooling mom, we don't always have the time. Life tends to get in the way. We do want you to know we love and appreciate your participation!!! If we don't get a chance to comment, don't be upset. Please try to visit at least a few fellow Thunkers each week. People like it when you visit.

But hey... if you really miss us you can always join us over at the InsanityCafe Community & Forums. It's a small online community that offers some sanity to our strange world. And hey... you think Thursday Thunks is weird? You ain't seen nothing yet! (and we hand out free meds!)

Financing Our Dream House

Arrg. It has been over 6 months since I last the husband - I have 5 more months to go. I have been wondering every night if this was all worth it. By 'this' I mean our long distance set-up just to earn more. Let's face it, opportunities are rare here in the Philippines, much less in our case because we live in Cebu; a much more smaller City than Manila. However, the opportunity was there and we grabbed it to be able to save. If not, how else can we start building our dream house? I personally want something like this - since the lot we got sort of has a view.

The Government has a lot of housing programs and although I am grateful for that I feel they are not doing enough to provide housing loans and services to the Filipinos. If you look around, you'll see poorly planned housing projects with budgets cut nearly half because of corruption and then there's squatters everywhere. So what does that tell you of our Country's state? That is where companies which offer Mortgage Lending come in the picture. Not all are classified as an 'ideal lendee'; but one can always do proper research to be able to find a financial institution that can accommodate your needs. If you are not sure about your credit standing, you can just fill out a mortgage application inquiry form and once this is completed an associate will then contact you. This is the very first step in financing or refinancing a property. The next idea is to decide the length of the loan and interest rate. You can either have a fixed rate or an adjustable rate of mortgage. You can always go through this with your associate and compare between fixed and adjustable rate.

In my opinion, I would prefer to pay off in a shorter time to save up in higher interest rate. That is if you can afford that. If not, many mortgage companies offer pay period of 15-30 years. Just make sure before making a major decision like this, you do your own research.
