Thursday Thunks

One of my fave meme's because of the fun questions!

These questions were submitted by Thursday Thunker participants! (so don't blame Kimber & Berleen for the quality of the questions.....)

we are picking up where we left off last week, which explains why we are starting with #21 instead of #1. Great work on the questions submissions everyone! It gave Kimber & I a much needed mental break.
We posted these questions just as they were listed on the participant's blog.

21. How many states have you been in?
::: since I live in the Philippines - I would say I've been in about 10 or more (prolly more but I am too lazy to really count - different cities all over the Philippines. I must travel some more. :::

22. If a sexist Man is called a pig, what is a sexist Woman called?
::: Let's see...B*tch? :::

23. You see the one person who you absolutely despise. If you were guaranteed that he/she couldn't say or do anything back to you.... What would you do??
::: I am not confrontational nor violent; but I'd give her/him a dirty look - that's how far I can go :::

24. How many states are to the right of you? And don’t give us a map to look at.
::: Leyte, my dad's hometown. :::

25. You can go anywhere in the world for free. Where are you?
::: Norway - my hubby's there and I haven't seen him for 5 months and I miss him terribly. :::

26. HOW MANY FINGERS AM I HOLDING UP?
::: 1 and don't ask me what finger. lol. :::

27. Are you a boxing fan? Do you think there will be a rematch of the Hatton-Pacquiao fight?
::: I am not a fan. No, there would be no rematch, Hatton is no match for Pacquiao. Besides Manny would be too busy running for office that he won't have time for a rematch. I hope he doesn't run though - just what our country DOES NOT need, more unfit government officials :::

28. What is the most disgusting thing you have ever eaten?
::: ...this is hard because I don't eat something if it looks suspiciously or even remotely gross, I would say eating liver is really gross. I had to try it because my mother swore it tasted yummy and frankly she lied. :::

29. Is it cloudy right now?
::: Oddly, for summer it is. :::

30. What is your dream job?
::: If dream jobs do come true I'd wish to be a Photographer or some rich person's personal shopper. :::

31. Someone gives you a $500 gift card to WalMart or Target. What are you going to buy?
::: Baby Stuff! I have many things on my list right now and it would help a lot if I had that gift card. :::

32. When you were little, what did you want to be "when you grow up"? And, how much different is your occupation now from where you thought it would be when you were younger?
::: There was once a time I wanted to a be nurse..then a flight attendant so I can travel for free. Right now I can never be a nurse - to scared of blood and I can't be an F.A I am too short and too fat for the job, let's say its super different from my current profession. :::

33. what was your favorite toy as a child?
::: Barbie - I remember combing her long hair and cutting it all off when I got really mad :::

34. How do you think these things up??
::: What things? The Q's? Just random stuff I guess that Berleen and Kimber think of :::

35. Why do you think so many "fake" veterans get away with pretending? Why don't people question them more (especially the media who eats up their stories?)
::: No idea with the issue - so no comment. :::

36. What is the last place you had a good cry and why?
::: Bedroom - I missed someone :::

37. What do you mean?
::: No no.....what do YOU mean? :::

Weekend In San Remigio

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Our day started around 7AM - we went about preparing for our road trip and headed out around 9:00AM already. We reached our destination 30 minutes ahead of schedule since we passed by a short cut of a more scenic route. The 3 hours was lessened to 2 and a half and we were lucky enough to see so many yellow butterflies along the way. No kidding, the whole town called Tabuelan that we passed through was full of flying butterflies that I was in awe. It's a shame I never got to take a picture because I was starting to feel really car sick and Oz was sleeping soundly in my arms I didn't want to wake him.

When we reached San Remigio, it was 11:30 and time for lunch! We had our fill and explored the resort a bit which boasted of its basket court, swimming pool (kiddie pool and big pool) plus a jacuzzi. Here you can see Oz and me standing outside our room. They had a fishing farm where you can catch your own fish and buy whatever you catch at around P300.00/kilo.

Mother was the only one patient enough to fish - she caught 1, and a relatively big orange tilapiya at that. We brought him home for dinner when a cat snatched and ate it all up. Bad kitty.

Anyway - on the first day we rested and started to enjoy the pool after the sun was out so that was around 4PM already. Oz and I plus Lolo and Lola had fun in the pool and we walked along the beach. I love it when it is low-tide where you can see a lot crabs, starfishes and other marine life that's normally hidden.

After dinner we had set-up a bonfire in the shore and sat and talked till we were sleepy. As usual the little one hated the sand - so he contented himself by sitting on a carton mat all night. We hadn't anticipated to bring mats or big beach towels. It would have been nice if we had tents too. It was clear night with the stars out - that was a fun bonding moment.
The next day, we had breakfast early, heard mass in a nearby chapel and started swimming by 9:30AM.

It was such a nice change. We were able to relax and take our time. The place and staff were very nice. The rooms were mediocre without hot/cold shower and tv but that okay. You can also bring food without being charged corkage fee. I advise this because their food is a bit expensive. But all in all I'd recommend the place. Suitable for families and big groups.

I Fear

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Our weekend was great. We were able to relax and enjoy the last remaining days of summer with the family. I'd post stories a little later, for now I need to look for information on appetite suppressants for a friend. She wants to lose weight before a big wedding. I told her as long as she makes sure it is safe and that she still eats then I guess its okay to rely on some natural diet pills to look her best. I personally haven't tried one and I have no plans of doing so - but we never know? Maybe I will after the baby is born if I'd get too fat. Imagine, I have been steadily gaining weight faster than I did on my first pregnancy and I'm afraid I won't be able to shed off the weight! The baby would be wide awake when its eating time and if I'm eating something good - let's say cake perhaps it would kick some more! Somewhat saying, feed me mommy that's good stuff. Heehee

I may sound so vain but along with getting darker skin and snakes, getting fat is one of my fears too.

Were Having A Boy!

Have you heard!!!!?

Were having a BOY! I was wishing & hoping for a girl however, a healthy baby boy is such a blessing as well. I didn't tell anyone I was going for an ultrasound yesterday. I actually did not plan on it. I was near the area because I had errands and when I checked that it was still 4PM I tried to see if they would still accept me. They did! So 10 minutes later, I knew the gender of the baby.

The baby was wide awake during the scan, he was playing with his umbilical cord, his eyes were open and he was opening/closing his mouth. He was perfect said the doctor. Now, I am off to find baby clothes which may be on sales and then I'd have to decide on the perfect name.

Life is grand!

Beach for the Weekend

Thursday, May 21, 2009

I think it is safe to say 'all systems go' when it comes to our planned trip to the beach this weekend. The whole family plans to head down North of Cebu to San Remigio to experience the pristine beaches, long shoreline and the beautiful sea and sand. *rain rain GO away, far far away pls*
Everybody's on-board and miraculously no one has other plans so Dad decided we must at least enjoy the last days of summer.

We plan on staying at Hard Rock Resort in San Remigio because it has a lot of amenities which include basketball, volleyball and table tennis courts, swimming pool, fishing village, cottages and private rooms - and it is at a reasonable price. The FISHING VILLAGE is the reason Dad wanted to go really. The other stuff is just bonus. So, technically were going because Dad wanted to go fishing which is fine because I want to try my luck too.

As soon as I have pictures I will post them with the stories too.

update their site is (http://www.hardrockresortvictoriacebu.page.tl/)

Hayden-Katrina-Carmen et al Scandal

I have to give my 2 cents regarding this issue because - who am I kidding, I have seen the 3 videos made maliciously by Dr.Kho.

First off, poor girls!!!! They had no idea. They were being filmed without their knowledge! I feel like peeping tom. Bad. Bad. BAD Dr.

Secondly, IF I was the mom of those girls I'd personally track down and give Hayden a piece of my mind then hit him in the face for such actions. Obviously he filmed them without the girl's knowledge. But who could have leaked the video's on the internet? I don't think the Dr. did. So who???

I can't believe Dr.Vicki accepted him back...

But looking at the bigger picture here; there are other faceless young women who experience the embarrassment of having their videos and photos taken then being uploaded in the net. Why take them in the first place right? Maybe they trusted their bf's too much..still there's not enough law in the Philippines that can put these predators behind bars. I wish with all the hooplah this issue is creating the Senate will pass a law that will ensure these kinds of things will protect the rights of the women. I'd hate to think that the good Sen.Revilla is just up there for show and in the end won't made a law against this.

Those who upload/sell and propagate the video for the public should be made to pay for their actions.

p.s. (off topic) I love Katrina Halili's new 'do. lol

Mr. Sun

My aunt was looking for some nice outdoor dining sets because she plans to purchase a beach front property in Bohol. I, of course helped her find a few to chose from because if they push through with the purchase that means we can go there anytime we want! Seeing how Bohol is only a few minutes away from Cebu I don't see why we can't go there as often as we would like.

....I can't believe summer is officially over according to PAGASA. Summer was only for a month! The weather cheated and stole a month of more sun from us. Although it saddens me I am still looking forward to our planned trip to the North this weekend. Oh Mr.Sun do shine for us.

ANTM Cycle 12 Winner

I've mentioned a few posts back that I predict the last 2 models who would battle it out with a Brazilian Fashion Show for ANTM Cycle 12 would be Teyona and Allison; I was right! However, the winner came out to be Teyona since she was more consistent with her pictures even though she did not do so well in the Cover Girl Ad. Allison was the Most Improved model but that did not secure her the spot of ANTM Cycle 12 winner.

I am okay with this I guess. America's Next Top Model has become predictable. Can you see the pattern? Cycle 3 winner: Eva Pigford(black); Cycle 6 winner: Danielle Evans (black); Cycle 9 winner: Saleisha Stowers (black) and lastly Cycle 12 winner: Teyona Anderson (black!) ding ding ding.

I'm Nesting

...I just love our bigger bed and the mirror on top of it. Oz loves jumping up and down the bed while watching himself in the mirror. Lol.

We've also added a heater for our bathroom shower so our room is so livable already. Although it would have been perfect if it was bigger, had a TV and a little kitchen with nice stainless steel undermount sink? Teehee

If that happens then I will never go out the room on weekends. Anyway, my next project is buying nice stack-able white plastic containers that I can put inside the cabinet and below the bed for extra storage. This would also be good for organizing the clothes.

I am nesting. Yes, I am in my nesting stage where I am getting ready for the 2nd baby's coming. It's actually fun.

My 1st Mineral Make-Up

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Oh yey. My friends, J and Y gave me Maybelline Mineral Powder for my birthday. I was totally happy with it (actually asked them to give me one! ahaha) because I wanted to try what's all the fuss about it. People say it gives great coverage without feeling heavy with too much on.

Why you'll love it?

According to their site..it is:
  • 100% natural mica creates a more natural luminosity
  • Complete, yet refined coverage
  • Provides buildable, even coverage
  • Preservative-free, talc-free, oil-free, fragrance-free
  • Medium to Full Coverage
It also has SPF to protect you from the sun and its brush is so cute. Anyway; all I can say is that I am loving it so far. It's a pleasant surprise how powder can actually give great coverage. I will try this out first and see if it is easier, more convenient, better and cheaper than the usual compact that I've had for years.

Just Imagine

Monday, May 11, 2009

Itching for a vacation? Who isn't. With summer nearing its end I would like to have one last hurrah before hanging up those swimsuits and board shorts. My friends wanted to have another Island Hopping trip; and if all goes well we may go by June. If you ask me I prefer those Orlando vacations I've heard so much about from my friend Ann and Jai but I don't have the funds so better stick to the local scene first.

I hope it pushes through. If not, well...I can always imagine. Just Imagine as Barney the dinosaur would sing.

ANTM Cycle 12 Fearless Forecast

I heard from a grapevine that the last 2 standing for ANTM Cycle 12 runway show would be a black girl and a white girl. With my girl Celia out; and only Teyona, Aminat and Allison remaining I think it would be a battle between Allison and Teyona.

Allison -ANTM Cyle 12

Teyona - ANTM Cyle 12

I would personally go for Allison. Teyona is okay but she does not look like a supermodel in person and her communication skills need work if she wants to be a spokesperson. With Allison's quirky style, big big eyes and broken down doll look - I feel like the judges would make her win just to add something different to the cycle's winners. She's not your typical beauty and she is very eccentric (admitting she like seeing blood!). We know how Tyra loves your non typical beauties.

We'll see. Both girl's runway walks needs improvement badly so anything goes at this stage. With the show nearing its end, I wonder what else I can watch online.

Reminiscing College

Last night I got to go out with my friends from college. We had dinner in celebration of mine and Gil's birthday. It was crazy and so full of funny conversations. We were seated in the resto as early as 630PM and got up by 9PM! Although we were not able to have the Casa Verde's renowned Baby Back Ribs; its okay we feasted on their other yummy dishes and desserts instead. I realized being with friends - no matter how old you all get you always tend to talk like teenagers and start giggling uncontrollably with the smallest things. We got to reminiscing about college and how we had to go to school without taking a shower because we had deadlines and papers to submit ASAP. If I knew about the option of having the best custom essays without the hassle of staying up late I would have jumped at the chance. Don't get me wrong I do all my assignments by myself however, I remember when we were in our last semester all the teachers decided that they sync their deadlines thus making us all crazy squeezing everything and anything in their given time line.

Crazy, yes but I miss the rush. I miss our late night coffee breaks and sometimes drunken moments. But it would have been great to have had a little help for those essays and papers that were just too hard to make time for. Imagine the ease it would have caused plus the additional hours of sleep we've gotten.

Friday Happiness

Friday, May 8, 2009

Dad suggested we go on a weekend beach thing somewhere North of Cebu. I jumped at the chance and said yes right away even with the pouring rain outside. Although it would be scheduled 2 weekends from now I hope the weather cooperates with us by then. Also, I am hoping Oz would like the beach & sand this time. I am always happy when I am near a big body of water. It relaxes me.

If you're wondering how the pregnancy is going; head off to my other blog. All the updates are there. I am just happy right this very moment because its a Friday and I have some money in my paypal account due to some sideline freelance advertising work. That way I don't have to get money from our savings account - which in my mind is exclusively for our major expenses and emergency use only.

Wanna check out how fat pregnant I am?
....I am going to limit my rice intake because I am putting on weight faster than expected. Imagine, I practically ate all of my birthday cake from last week. It was so yummy I can't stop myself. Also, this weekend is mine and Gil's birthday dinner with the screwed fags and hags. I can't wait to have my fill of baby-back ribs from Casa Verde.

Any weekend plans guys?

How To Maximize Hair Growth

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

The vanity is kicking in again and because I'm a bit bored I will indulge on it for a bit. I am obsessed with growing my hair right now despite the obvious disapproval from many people. I just want to have a longer hair soon to give the elusion (delusion) of a thinner face.

Did you know that hair grows an average of 6 inches per year? That's half inch a month! If that's the case, I will only have an additional of 4 inches when the year ends. That's so little....:( I want to have long and a bit of wavy hair. Can I pull it off? We'll see. I was so tempted to buy some hair extensions once; but I am not so sure how long they will last though. Besides I don't have the budget for that right now so I will stick to the good old *waiting for hair to grow* tactic.

When will I ever have this kind of hair???
Uhmmm in 3 years maybe!? Wahhhh. It will take a lot of will power on my part not to cut my hair though. I have the tendency to cut and cut when I am in the mood or bored. Anyway, I've read about tips on how to maximize hair growth and I've learned there's no fast way really but you can do these things to help grow a healthier head of hair.

  1. Right Vitamins - It is also important to include B-6, biotin, Inositol and folic acid in the supplemental program. It has been found that certain minerals including magnesium, sulfur, silica and zinc are also very important toward maintaining healthy hair. Beta-carotene is also essential to hair growth because it is converted to vitamin A as the body needs it, helps maintain normal growth and bone development, protective sheathing around nerve fibers, as well as promoting healthy skin, hair and nails. Beta-carotene is found in green and yellow vegetables and fruits.
  2. Protein - a diet that is too low in protein may cause some thinning in hair or a retardation in the growth cycle. The converse is true, If you eat a protein-rich diet it will often result in improved hair growth.
  3. Eat right, exercise, reduce stress, rest, gets lots of sleep and your are well on your way to maximizing your hair growth potential.
  4. Drink lots of water.

Here are some other hair growing tips:

  1. Eliminate or cut back on smoking, caffeine and carbonated sodas which weaken the body and block maximum hair growing potential.
  2. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat.
  3. Treat your hair like a piece of fine old lace. Treat it carefully avoiding any unnecessary brushing, combing or handling.
  4. Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers or other hair care tools that may stress the hair.
  5. Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles.
  6. Do a series of ongoing hot oil treatments to protect the hair's shaft.
  7. Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier.
  8. Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair. - Source

3: Kids I want to have.
2: Kids we are most likely having. Magastos magka-anak! whew.
1: my one and only wish is to be with hubby if not then a nice *laptop* will do.

Anyway..I was kind of sad because Hubby was not here. It's the first time that I've celebrated my birthday without him. I didn't like to celebrate it but I still did because I know it wouldn't help if I be sad and down on my special day. Lunch was spent at home and we had ice cream and cake. We were waiting for the fight for forever, even went to mass early to catch it on TV, only to find out it was done in less than 6 minutes.

Dinner was spent with my direct family, grandparents and some aunts, uncles and cousins. It was fun. Family gatherings always cheer me up. And of course...food. Food always cheers me up especially nowadays. ^_^ Hopefully, I won't be needing Liporexall after the pregnancy but I highly doubt it.

How was your long weekend?
