Weekend In San Remigio

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Our day started around 7AM - we went about preparing for our road trip and headed out around 9:00AM already. We reached our destination 30 minutes ahead of schedule since we passed by a short cut of a more scenic route. The 3 hours was lessened to 2 and a half and we were lucky enough to see so many yellow butterflies along the way. No kidding, the whole town called Tabuelan that we passed through was full of flying butterflies that I was in awe. It's a shame I never got to take a picture because I was starting to feel really car sick and Oz was sleeping soundly in my arms I didn't want to wake him.

When we reached San Remigio, it was 11:30 and time for lunch! We had our fill and explored the resort a bit which boasted of its basket court, swimming pool (kiddie pool and big pool) plus a jacuzzi. Here you can see Oz and me standing outside our room. They had a fishing farm where you can catch your own fish and buy whatever you catch at around P300.00/kilo.

Mother was the only one patient enough to fish - she caught 1, and a relatively big orange tilapiya at that. We brought him home for dinner when a cat snatched and ate it all up. Bad kitty.

Anyway - on the first day we rested and started to enjoy the pool after the sun was out so that was around 4PM already. Oz and I plus Lolo and Lola had fun in the pool and we walked along the beach. I love it when it is low-tide where you can see a lot crabs, starfishes and other marine life that's normally hidden.

After dinner we had set-up a bonfire in the shore and sat and talked till we were sleepy. As usual the little one hated the sand - so he contented himself by sitting on a carton mat all night. We hadn't anticipated to bring mats or big beach towels. It would have been nice if we had tents too. It was clear night with the stars out - that was a fun bonding moment.
The next day, we had breakfast early, heard mass in a nearby chapel and started swimming by 9:30AM.

It was such a nice change. We were able to relax and take our time. The place and staff were very nice. The rooms were mediocre without hot/cold shower and tv but that okay. You can also bring food without being charged corkage fee. I advise this because their food is a bit expensive. But all in all I'd recommend the place. Suitable for families and big groups.
